It can take a while to build up your client base, and even after I'd finished my training and had starting practising, a very wise old reflexologist said to me 'Don't give up the day job'. If you have someone to support you while you're studying and getting started that's great, but if not then maybe the security of your job will be a good thing. If they are amenable you could ask to go part time.

A job where you meet people and are concerned for their well-being might be something to consider, for example working in a gym or spa/salon. What is it you do now, and what skills do you have? Even if you feel you have to stay where you are, remember that it's serving you well and paying your bills - I suspect it's what gets many people through their working day. Good luck with your course and don't feel shy about asking questions on here. I don't know how I'd have got through my training without Healthy Pages!

I currently work in sales, I meet different people every day and being a total people person that is the part I love!! Its fairly hardcore sales and I just don't really enjoy being over pushy and because I'm not that passionate about it I am finding it a real struggle, I also work 10 hours a day so its also very draining! [sm=sleep.gif]

You are right though, my job is a means to an end and I do need to keep earning, I was just hoping there may be some other options open to me that would involve reflexology! Thanks again

I'm in a similar position as yourself. I am coming to the end of my course, sitting the exam in June and hope to develop my passion into cash. I want to initially supplement my wage, being in Sales also I know we've had it hard (I work with tourist titles [:@]). Once I'm up and running then I'll look at part time. I saw a start up business consultant with the council and they breathed a sigh of relief when I said I was not giving up the day job.

You say you meet loads of people, then bring Reflex into the conversation - you never know where it may lead. One of my advertising clients is setting up two meetings with his clients who are looking at a Comp Health business and both currently work in hotels. I have no idea how they will pan out but 'nothing ventured, nothing gained'!:D

Keep up with the studies and if you are doing case studies, then start them straight away, even if it's just the consultation. Let them build up at your peril[&:]. You are only paid for 8-9 hours a day so only work them! We all have to work extra now and again but don't let it become a habit! Better time management or dump stuff you don't need - blah, blah!

Out of interest are there any specific websites that deal with Reflexology jobs??

Brilliant advice from Russ there. There are a couple of websites run by companies who specialise in sending therapists to corporate clients for therapy days and so on. I've been in touch with a couple and they didn't seem to have much reflexology work. The thing seems to be to get out there and bang on doors, I think. If you want to join , this is a website for finding therapists, and as a student I think you can recruit case study clients. Where are you based? People on here may have friends and rellies just dying to be your case study! And you will probably find that some of these case study clients become regular clients after you finish your course, or refer friends of theirs to you. Networking and word of mouth are very powerful in this line of work, and as someone who sees lots of people I think you'll find this a huge advantage. Not to mention the fact that you're in sales!!
