Would it be ok to use a laFuma for pregnant ladies, or would they be leaning too far back?
Also is there a standard lafuma to buy for reflexology?
Last question: Woolworths used to do a (cheaper) lafuma equivalent - do you know of anywhere else that does one?

The one that I can definitely answer is that the Lafuma will be fine in the early and middle stages of pregnancy. However, in the late stages it will be uncomfortable for them. I've found that women develop a kind of vertigo when they get to a certain point, which is different with each client. But once that point is reached you have two options. Either a standard armchair with a footrest (which means you'll probably end up on the floor and causing yourself an injury) or you use a massage couch with the back almost upright, a V pillow behind their back, a pillow across the top of the back for their head, a small bolster behind the small of their back and pillows under their knees, calves and feet. If you do use a couch, it absolutely must have a centre leg. The reason is that the majority of the weight of someone sitting up on the couch is over the centre, and if there's no centre leg, their is a high risk of the couch collapsing, particularly the extra weight of a pregnant woman.

Just a note seeker1, there are some good deals on Amazon for Lafuma recliners. There is a cheaper version but I just can't think of the name. It could be a case of getting what you pay for though!

I recently had a pregnant lady for Reflexology and she tried using both the lafuma and massage couch (she was 40 weeks). She found the lafuma chair the most comfortable. Most of my reflexology clients prefer the chair to the couch whether they are pregnant or not. I'm not sure whether the chairs have a weight limit or not. I bought a cheaper version (although I can't be sure - well it doesn't say lafuma anywhere on it) from an ex-catalogue shop - cost me £25. It's white which is a bit of an unfortunate colour really but it's probably why it was cheap. I've had no problems with it at all. Ebay always has lafuma chairs on them but I don't know what the price is like compared to buying them from a supplier.

I think the Lafumas do have a weight limit, although since I've had a 6 foot 7 bloke laid back in mine, I'm pretty sure we're safe with most pregnant women. 😉

That looks like the one I have - it's been great so far.
I use a Lafuma RSX chair. I've treated alot of pregnant woman and always ask them if they're comfortable to lie back - I've only treated one who wasn't happy to be fully reclined.
I think the RSX used to have a maximum weight limit of about 15 stone but apparently they don't specify one now.
I haven't looked too much into cheaper alternatives as I just bought what was recommended when I was training and haven't needed to replace it since.
