Having done a vast amount of research I have decided to go for the LaFuma chair!!!

Where to buy from though..........................

Any advice would be great. Does anyone know who offers the best deal????

I have a couch and an on-site chair so don't want to spend another ton of money as my equipement costs are rising!!!!!!!!!!

RE: LAFUMA CHAIRS!!!!!

I got mine from the Oxford School of Reflexology :
They have lots of colours in stock.
I also got a lafuma therapists stool and a carry case for my lafuma from them.

You can also get them from Therapies Direct - they do a bolster that fits in the gap at the foot end so you don't need a pillow (a very good idea, I think)

Love

RE: LAFUMA CHAIRS!!!!!

Just got mine from the oxford school of reflexology, I love it, I did three treatments in it staight away.
I was a little dissapointed with the finish on the arm rests, as they are very rough and feel a little uncomfortable after a while, but they can be rubbed down and varnished.
I also wish I had bought the fleecy cover at the same time, as the batyline fabric does not keep your back warm. Other than that, I have found the Lafuma more comfortable than having the client lie on the sofa, or sitting in a chair with a foot stool.
I have had to do a couple of my case studies kneeling on the floor[&o] not very comfy.
So my Lafuma is a godsend, all I need now is trolly, any one know where I can get one?;)

RE: LAFUMA CHAIRS!!!!!

Hi LGA - Long time no speak,

I too bought a batyline La Fuma from OSR and was very impressed with it. I put a blanket on it first and tuck it under the pillow - that stops the cold back. I have found that when I lower people back, by the time I've walked back to my stool they have moved up again, so I tend to sit with the bottom pole on my knees to keep it up. Is there anything else I can do?

Why do you need a trolley? I bought the bag, which is a bit basic, and found it light enough to carry on my shoulder.

I would recommend buying the ankle bolster from Therapies Direct.

All the best,

Russell

RE: LAFUMA CHAIRS!!!!!

Hi Russ Hun!
How goes it?
do you lie the chair back from a standing position? I just sit on my stool and lift the foot bar. Has it always tilted back up again? or started doing it as it loosend up with use?
I am sure that as long as the client remains lying back it should stay put.
I too have the carry case, and find it very light, but still too heavy to carry a long distance(I don't have transport so have to walk a lot)[&:]
Did you use the blanket cos you also found it a little cold on the back?
Sorry so many questions[&:][&:]
I have been following some o your posts, seeme you are doing well,
exams not far off now[:'(]

RE: LAFUMA CHAIRS!!!!!

Just thought, I am sure there is a locking mechanism under the arm rest, think you have to turn it or some thing, although that may just be for when you fold it away, not sure as have not had mine long and still getting to know it(mostly from a reclining position in front of the tv at the moment lol:D, can't help it, it is sooooo comfy, I get on it and don't want to get off.):)

RE: LAFUMA CHAIRS!!!!!

Hi folks

To stop it see-sawing, get the client to shimmy up towards the headrest a bit until the chair is balanced, it will not then move. The under arm rest locks are not very efficient. I always lay mine back by pulling up the foot rest from my own seat now, dont have to get up at all.

I use a fleece blanket on mine (batylene) as it does feel cold otherwise. Also you can launder it frequently.

Have a look on ebay for chairs, you can get one at a good price, but watch the postage costs. As to a trolley, I can put mine on my shopping trolley wheels, but generally I dont take it to anywhere awkward now and settle client on a sofa, supporting their legs under the knees and feet over end, or onto another chair strategically placed.

RE: LAFUMA CHAIRS!!!!!

I've just been looking on the OSR website they are doing a deal on lafuma chairs at the moment. They offer what they call a refelxology packs, you can order covers, stools/chairs, carry case and other stuff all at once.

I looked at a chair, stool, carry case, fleecy cover and covered bolster to to under the feet and it came to £180.35. That includes vat and shipping.

Worth checking out.
