RE: Please help my pickled liver!!
You're not failing miserably, Trinity.....
I wasn't being sarcastic (just re-read my reply to your post), I meant that you're on the green tea, healthy smoothies, dandelion, and only drinking on the weekends.
Oi reckons that you're being too hard on yourself.
When I was stupider in Ye Olde Days, I used to stick roughly 12 grams of cocaine up my nose, every day (not a cheap habit). When I cut down to .5 a day, I used to berate myself on how miserably I was failing. Which of course, made me go back to square one.
Now I know better and don't touch it at all.
It's better to be nice to yourself.
Love,
Neo
RE: Please help my pickled liver!!
Cheers Neo-Your post makes sense.
Well on the one hand I thought I failed miserable last night because despite my post I gave in and had a can[:@] Then I open my second can and thought-Im not actually enjoying this- So I threw it away.
So this morning I am actually PROUD of myself. Ive had a pint of fresh juice (carrot, apple, kiwi and parsley:D) and Im off to my first ever yoga class in half an hour!!:D
Catcha later!

Hi
Trinity x I have always thought that your post were very refreshing and full of fun, you do not sound like you need to use Alcohol to have fun at all. But agree with those who have said you are to critical of yourself. You had a can you did not want the other. I used to have a bit of a habit when I married for the second time I wanted to share my new husbands love of wine. Yea I did three glasses a night[sm=hug.gif], does not sound a lot but my body does not deal with alcohol easily and I felt awfull next day[&:]. But I got into the habit of sitting down and having the glass of wine availabe to colapse with. I know drink Holand and Barrets Ginger drink [ no Alcoholic ] it is very strong tasting has the sting Wiskey has on the back of the throat and seems to [for me anyway] fill the gap that wine has. My husband now even drinks this at home now and when he wants a Glass of wine he has to take me out for dinner[sm=kiss.gif]. Much nicer it feels ok then to have the one glass of wine rather than at home. But I had to get out of the habit of expecting it when I sat down in the evening.[&o]

RE: Please help my pickled liver!!
Hiya Kemana.
Thank you for your lovely post!
Im doing really well at the moment-I havent had a drink for 14 days! I dont even fancy a drink half of the time. Sometimes I think that Id like to just sit there and have a few (about 5!) cans because I like the feeling of getting slowly pissed -but I know that I wouldnt get anything done and that Id feel really bad the next day and that id feel as though id let myself and my family down.
Ive had energy healing today -part of my healing process-and Ive realised that I just grab hold of things (drugs, eating disorder, drink) to stop me being peaceful?! I dont know if it makes any sense! pm me if ya like- I think this might b getting to deep for everyone!!!

RE: Please help my pickled liver!!
Hello Trinity
I have a Son of 27 who had a bad drink problem, he drank to shut everyone out. Doctor tried to prescribe Social phobic pills, When I looked on the internet to see what the side effects were of these drugs I nearly had a fit. He stopped taking them before they took hold. These were pills prescribed to make him more social. He drank to make him forget he was different not social. A loner we have to go deep into ourselves to find out the why's. Alcohol changes the persons behavour, he is lovely when sober. Very depressed about getting drunk so was always feeling bad about himself, for getting that way. So his self esteem suffered. He does not get drunk now not for a few months and he is beggining to like himself. Started playing the Guitar we bought him 2 years ago. Took him a while to get out of this binge habit. He had tried a few times. Now all I ask is for a nice young lady to come along, He is good looking but does not realize it, his 22 year old sisiter has friends who have eyed him up, she thinks it hilarious that he does not see he is more than ok. Years of not liking what he is doing, waking up in the morning and looking at the face that took him there.
Hope you have a good year. Kemana;)

RE: Please help my pickled liver!!
Hi
I know a man through my job went on holiday over Christmas. Really unusual bloke He drinks a lot, though I'v never seen him really under the influence he has to drink to get through the day. Whilst on holiday in the sun he got heat stroke the hospitol told him to drink only water for the next 4 days, on the last day he had a bottle of beer He then stopped breathing and passed out his heart stopped. He had to be given the kiss of life. The doctors tell him that his body is so used to the Alcohol, that his body went into shock, to be without it for so long and then introduce it again so quick. He jokes now that he has been told by docs that he has to drink to stay alive. I think he is cutting down though. Really is a cool guy if I can say that at my age, but he is. Place would be not the same without him. I think he is shy himself and started the drinking to get sociable. Hope you had a nice time anyway. Do not meen to be a downer he tells the story with glee.
Love from Kemana
RE: Please help my pickled liver!!
Hiya Kemana!
Well I did go to my friends. I had 3 snowballs (yeah I know its a lame drink-but I actually enjoyed them!!!) and 1 can of Stella:eek:
I stopped when I felt a bit 'happy'!! which is very good for me!
I also went to a ladies night at the local watering hole the next night! [>:]
I had 3 pints and a double vodka[:-] BUT..in my defence (your honor) I didnt buy the last pint and double voddy (even tho I drank it, I know!!).
When I got home I was in drinking session mode, made myself a nice cool voddy & tonic BUT..I didnt drink it!!:) I thought 'no Ive had more than enough!'
So I AM a good girl and I CAN say no!
:):):D:D:):)

RE: Please help my pickled liver!!
Thank you for the web-site, i don't think i could take garlic though, not good for business, but i am going to try the dandelion tea, and milk thisle, to detox my liver, after the bad spell of new year drinking, and eating alot of red meat. Both a No No.
RE: Please help my pickled liver!!
My husband has hep c thanks to a blood transfusion in hong kong in 1983 that said, i find fasting helps him a great deal. not too many carbs, and a good meal once a day. he will have a piece of fruit for breakfast, with a pint of water, a main meal at lunch and cereal for tea. your worst enemy is too many combinations of food, try and eat organic if you can and again fasting helps, it gives the liver time to flush out. apple juice is also good for you. The easiest thing to remember is your liver is, along with the kidneys responsible for the filtration system in your body so the more complicated foods/drinks you eat the harder it has to work.
with love
and there is nowt wrong with snowballs its all i drink!!

RE: Please help my pickled liver!!
The humble Beetroot is a good detox for the liver.
Cooked beetroot (boiled minus the vinegar) is best. its very tasty when heated, most people think of it as purely a salad vegetable.
Freshly juiced apple and carrot is another liver detox.
hope this helps
RE: Please help my pickled liver!!

Never mind today is another day (I know we havent got to the evening yet but ya know!)
