Hiya peeps!
I should really take iron tablets as I am anaemic (more so now post op and still losing blood), but we all know the usual effect of iron tablets on those of us with sensitive bowels! I def do not want to be constipated at this point
So, any suggestions for iron supplements would be more than welcome, best I could find(did used to take them on and off) was a slow release iron tablet taken with lots and lots of water!
Does increasing vitamin C help with absorbtion of iron ..? cant remember where i heard that one!
thanks in advance
hugs

RE: Iron tablets
Hi
Some people like my mum cannot take most iron tablets as they can upset a lot of people.
If you can eat spinage you can take Chelated Iron you need to take the natural form and not the sythetic stuff which most places sell. It is a form of iron (ferrous gluconate) that's usually well-absorbed by the body. In this formulation the iron is enhanced with vitamin C, calcium and a unique base of rose hips, chickweed herb, mullein leaves, thyme herb and yellow dock root. Each tablet contains: Iron (ferrous gluconate) 25mg 180% ECRDA, Vitamin C 50mg 83% ECRDA, Calcium (di-calcium phosphate) 64mg 6.4% ECRDA. Iron is used by the body in making myoglobin (supplying oxygen for muscle contractions) and hemoglobin, the central molecule of red blood cells that travel to the lungs to pick up oxygen and deliver it to the tissues. Iron is also involved in energy metabolism. Take one tablet daily with a meal.

RE: Iron tablets
Hi Jaki
Word of warning most high street places do not sell natural products which are organic and tend to be chemically based.
They very often are not acid soluble by your stomach so they go straight through your system, hence why your urine can turn darker as you are literally flushing your money on these type of supplements down the toilet!
The products need to be tested to the highest standards for active ingredients and the right potency. This is not often done so you must be very careful where you get them from.
Many competitors health products use synthetic ingredients and are poorly absorbed and assimilated by the body. They may also have low levels of active ingredients and can be full of sugar.
There are many good products out there you just have to be careful. I would be happy to let you know more about the info I have already given, feel free to drop me an email. I am very passionate about this as I studied what is in supplements for the last 8 years and it is shocking it took me a long time to find some that are any good!
