Does anyone know a lot about the GI Diet..
I am starting it today, as have not been well this last year, and have zilch energy.. I thought that this may help.
I have bought a couple of books and will try it for at least a couple of weeks and see what happens..
Does anyone have any advise on it!!
Thanks.. x Wombat
RE: GI Diet
I have a fair understanding of how it works as it's something I'm interested in. Seems the best way of fighting off the sleepymonster.
Not sure if there's any advise to give.
RE: GI Diet
Hi Wombat
Are you doing this with Tesco/Daily Telegraph?

RE: GI Diet
Hi Wendy
No I bought the GI Diet book, and a small book which shows you what you can and can't eat from foods at the supermarket and when eating out...
Just feel I need to do something and this seemed like as good an option as any. Plus it is basically just a new way of eating, if I can lose a little weight along the way aswell even better...
When I gave up smoking 4 years ago I put on a stone and am finding it really hard to shift!

p.s Thanks Darren for the input will let you know how it goes!!
RE: GI Diet
Well, I can see that it will work in terms of weight loss. Eating a low GI rated meal will mean it doesn't exit your stomach so quickly so you feel full for longer and therefore it takes longer before you start feeling hungry again!
Good luck!

Now that's interesting. I gave up smoking 2.5 years ago and I have the same problem - basically, I've been yo-yo'ing which is NOT good. Once upon a time, I could decide to cut down and, hey presto, would lose lbs but as I'm getting older, it aint working like that anymore!
I'm going to look into this as I read about it, briefly, in the paper today and then I saw your thread so now I'm curious! Darren's explanation makes it sound feasible.
I'm interested to know how you're doing.

RE: GI Diet
It's the reason why people say they're always hungry after a chinese meal. Your typical chinese restaurant affair is a high GI intake, so your body makes a quick meal of it (pun intended ).

HIya
So far everything is ok, I am not hungry, and find that the foods that you can eat are lovely and you really do not feel like you are missing out on anything.. You are even allowed some chocolate!!!!
The only thing is if you like red meat... you cannot have a lot. I do not eat much red meat but am low on Iron levels so need to eat some!
You should try it, it is really easy..

RE: GI Diet
watercress will get yr iron up. have discovered that we have been eating the GI diet for years without even knowing it! works for us, we're all slim, healthy and full of energy. hardly ever snack between meals and rarely get cravings for chocolate. tend to save that for bad news days! go for it, it's the easiest way to eat in the world!
