I dont know if any of you have done any correspondence courses. The thing is that where i live there arent any Holistic schools or anywhere i can go to do a course of this nature and i wanted to do a Nutrition one. I have found some schools who do on line courses one of them is The Kevala Centre for distance learning courses which is what i need. Anyone heard of them or used them before please let me know.

RE: Looking for an online Nutrition course

Hi,

I've not heard of the Kevala Centre, so am unable to offer any advice on them, but a friend of mine started a nutrition course through The School of Natural Health Sciences. She was happy with the course and it's content, so much so, I ended up enrolling on several courses myself!! I was supposed to start an ITEC A&P course in Derby back in Feb, but it was postponed till May. So, I decided to enrol on 3 of their courses until my ITEC course begins. They are definitely worth a look, I'm happy with the courses and their efficiency at responding to emails, plus they do special offers. Their website is

Good luck with whatever route you decide to take

Hey Raindrops

Did you enrol on any correspondence courses? I'm really interested in doing that too, but don't want to end up with a non-recognised qualification!!

I'm looking at the naturalhealthresources.com site now and it looks quite good...

RE: Looking for an online Nutrition course

Hey, if you look at the BANT website then a lot of the recognised courses use distance learning, although this is mainly via post rather than online i think. I've been looking to train in nutritional therapy and kevala is accredited by the BANT and seems to have a good reputation from the people i have spoken to. Plaskett Nutritional Medicine college is another distance learning college with a very good reputation and hopefully the qualification will be upgraded to a degree soon.

If you are just looking for a short course on nutrtion however there are a lot of online sites. elearn offers the stonebridge nutrition courses, adn there is alwasy SNSH or BSY etc.

Hope that helps even if it is a bit late!

RE: Looking for an online Nutrition course

Hi - depending on how in depth you want to go, fitness industry education do on-line courses in nutrition. It comes under weight management on the site but i think it's the equivilant to NVQ level 3 nutrition.

Diet & Nutrition courses

Hi ... 🙂

I wonder if anyone could possible give me a little advice.

Am thinking of starting a diet and nutrition course in September, my local college offers an ITEC course, is this any good? or is there a better course to take? if so, does anyone recommend a college in East Sussex/kent boarders?

Sorry ... but, thank you in advance [sm=1kis.gif]

Hello,

I am looking to complete a distance learning course to enable me to become a BANT registered nutritional therapist/practitioner. I have heard the ION college, Putmey is probably one of the best, but is to far away for me and requires many w/ends away, which would be difficult with my family committments.

I have also looked at PremierGlobal, Kevala & The College of Natural Therapy (in High Peak). I would be really interested to hear from anyone who has experience of any of these or if anyone knows how they might compare in terms of credibility, course content/materials??

All advice much appreciated.

Thank you......

RE: Nutritional Therapist/Pract. Course ??

You're probably asking BANT themselves about which courses qualifications they accept or membership that -

And.

Nutrition Diploma

Hi All

I am very interested in studying to become a Nutritional Therapist and have been trawling the internet for quite some time looking for a suitable course. As much as I would like to go to university full time and do a BSc course, i can't afford to do this nor do i feel it is most suitable for me.

I have looked at studying for a Diploma and have come across 'The College of Naturopathic Medicine (CNM)' - has anyone done this qualification and could they recommend it? I live in London and work full-time and would like something I can fit around that and that is affordable.

Thanks for any advice on this matter... The more I look the more confusing it gets as to which route is best and recognised etc.

Blessings.

RE: Nutrition Diploma

Hi there

I am in the same boat - working full time but looking to do nutrition, not only to help myself but help my daughter who is a very keen athlete - to try and get the best for her. I have been considering the Plaskett Nutritional distance course, which is now part of Thames Valley Uni - its over a couple of years but you can get a uni recognised degree at the end of it. I did try a distance learning package last year just to see if I could learn/retain with that style of learning. It seemed to go OK - however I did'nt expect to go into advisory after - you need guidance on how to set up a business and also client care etc - I did basic nutrition and sports nutrition - which was not part of the course I did - I learned quite a few new things. It was tempting to refer to your papers when testing yourself though - must be very disciplined not to peek!. for tasters - not really sure I want to put "Sports NUT" after my name either! that being said there was useful content and as I said it was mainly to see how I got on with that type of learning. Though I have to admit how people can learn the "hands on" therapies such as acupressure, massage etc by distance is a mystery to me.

Even with Plaskett I think it will be difficult to do the latter parts where you need clinical studies etc - not sure how I would cope with that, or how to go about it - I dont know any practitioners currently whom I could work with. I'm currently sorting out my finances to be able to put the 50% down then monthly payments to start at the bottom - but my exhaust fell off - so its delayed yet another month or two !.

good luck - 🙂 heres the link for Plaskett
