Inspired by a few threads on this website, I am thinking of embarking on an alkaline diet.
I have ordered my pH testing kit for my blood/urine/saliva (not sure which to test - any tips?), and have ordered a load of healthy food from various sources. I wont be giving up alcohol (I just do it socially at weekends), apparently only 80% of diet should be alkaline anyways. I've done quite a bit of reading on the subject. I shant be buying a water ionizer yet either (you seen the price on them? lol, gonna make sure this diet is one I can get on with first before splashing out), gonna put slices of lemon in my tap water instead as apparently that helps....
Just wondering if anyone else has tried this and feel any better for it? (or worse)
Any advice would be welcomed.
I start on Monday.
Thanks

Good luck.

what things have you ordered?
I don't know how much meaningful health data one gets from these pH tests, i suspect not much unless you're careful because blood is always alkaline and you'd need a very sensitive pH meter to say the blood pH is 7.45 rather then 7.35; urine pH depends on diet, how much water you're drinking, whether your body is detoxifying, etc; and i'd imagine that saliva pH depends on what you're about to eat, which manufacturs the pH specific digestive enzynes - but do your tests and please let us know the before and after "alkaline diet" pH test readings.
As another test, take some pH measurements, then do some deep yogic breathing where you exhale completly, removing all CO2 from the lungs, then breath deeply into your belly/diaphragm, then chest, then exhale completly. Do this for 15 mins, and then test pH again. Deep breathing, btw, is one of the best ways to alkalize and energize the body.

An alkaline diet is good, and has been shown to work. Generally, "acid" is a deficient state, deficient in energy and minerals hence alkaline is better.
Diet though is complex, and not everything you read from experts is 100% correct for everyone. A thing is that even if you eat something purely alkaline (high on the acid-alkaline food chart, which depends on the amount of alkaline minerals), the process of digestion will always produce acid wastes. This is why alkaline ionized water can be a better way to assimilate alkaline minerals as well as remove the acidity built up in the body.
I try to eat 80% raw foods (plenty of salads, grated vegetables, seemingly not very exciting, but tasty with various oils and lemon dressing), and have cut out grains from my diet (except oats/porridge), and feel better for it. I choose food based on its nutritional content, rather then solely on the alkaline minerals it has, which are at mostly under 1% in any case.
Thanks for the further advice. I was actually your website that inspired me to start reading up on all this.
this is the testing kit i've ordered (should be with me next week).
Apparently I've heard that to test your saliva you go without food/drink for few hrs then swallow a few times.... sounds as tho it could be quite accurate to me, but what do I know lol.
I remember the breathing exercises from my old Yoga days, didn't realise it cleansed your blood tho, thought it was just your lungs (teacher didn't explain that properly then did she).
Well I hope I do feel better for it, any more tips welcomed.
How scarey is that...just had my pH testing kit back...tap water measures 6.25!!!!
