The following question was emailed to me and I thought it would be interesting to see what thoughts other people may have...
I said that I felt there were no restrictions with Crystals other than the mind...and that I would always use a pendulum if in doubt and assess the situation from there...any thoughts?
Hi Jay,
I hope you don't mind me emailing you, I found your website address on
the Healthypages forum.I am asking you for some advice about crystal healing as you appeared to
be knowledgeable on the forum.I am currently half way through a course on crystal healing in Bristol,
it's a VTCT course and I'm trying to work my way through the various
modules. ONe question I can't find the answer to is 'what are three
restrictions to crystal healing?'I can find the contra indications, but nothing for restrictions. I have
to hand in this work by Tuesday next and I've got so much more work to
do it's driving me crazy, so I'm asking for your help.Thank you so much in anticipation,
RE: Any crystal restrictions...
I'm sure we can figure out the answer for this one - but I might ask for a little more details on the context of 'restrictions'. It could for example refer to the non use of 'radioactive crystals, poisonous minerals and physically sharp or spiny/splintery type crystals'... All of which would certainly be restricted in my opinion...

RE: Any crystal restrictions...
I can only think:
Toxins/elixirs, and, are some crystals 'incompatible'? The guy in my crystal shop told me how his rubies hate to be disturbed up by the small talk of some of the other chatty crystals!! 😀

How does he know!

RE: Any crystal restrictions...
Well Sol, we can only assume that the ruby crystals communicated with the shopkeeper!
The only thing I can think of in terms of restrictions is that when making elixirs some crystals you do not immerse in water as they are toxic when taken internally. In these instances, you would place the crystal in a cup, then place the cup in the water.

RE: Any crystal restrictions...
There are 'restrictions' on the cleansing of some crystals with water. For instance, kyanite (which can also lose its colour if left in the sun too long), calcite, halite (salt), selenite, gypsum, azurite....
RE: Any crystal restrictions...
Good point Thais, as a general rule, crystals ending in 'ite' should not be cleansed with water.

Thank you very much, all those who responded to my question. It has helped me, it's given me something to think about too. I've learnt several things already, in fact all that was written was new to me.... so thank you very much... it must take years to learn it all..
I think that the question I have to answer relates to the person having the crystal therapy, probably to any health problems they may have rather than the crystal itself... would that make sense to any of you? Would you treat anyone, whatever their health situation?
Thank you very much..

RE: Any crystal restrictions...
Hello Star
Would you treat anyone, whatever their health situation?
Basically yes, provided (1) they are happy to have the healing (2) you have checked with the pendulum that you can do the healing (3) again depending on what the condition is...you have checked with their doctor ~ although most dr's from my experience don't have much of an opinion regarding crystal healing[&:]
Sometimes the pendulum/crystals will not allow you to do the healing ... maybe if a pacemaker is involved ...I believe, not sure that sometimes Quartz can upset this....Epilepsy is another...from experience this time ~ a crystal healing was not allowed as the energies for this particular person were too strong...so he had Reiki healing instead, although now can have crystal healing but this is many many months on after having slowly introduced crystals to his energy field:)
it must take years to learn it all
With crystals you'll always be learning

RE: Any crystal restrictions...
Hi,
I am also on a VTCT crystal course at college and i went throught the assessment books with the tutor before the hols, and as far as I can remember it says that you must not:
Treat a minor, even with a parents consent. When we challenged the tutor on the age she said under 16's.
Epileptics must not be treated because they could be too relaxed and have an attack.
Anyone with severve mental illnesses should not be treated.
Anyone who is being supervised by the doctor, without a referral.
I'm sure there were other things, but my minds gone blank. (I'm in the middle of doing my crystal casestudy write ups, if I could stay off hp for long enough!)
Hope this helps.

Thank you very much Fairydust...and I just lurrrve the 'peeps' that do them for me[sm=hug.gif]

Don't agree, minors respond very well to crystal therapy. However, you have to ask for parental consent before treating anyone under the age of 16...and of couse with young children it's always best to have the parent/guadian in the same room where you are doing the 'treatment'
Epileptics must not be treated because they could be too relaxed and have an attack
Errrm, again something I disagree with to a point as mentioned in my above post...
There is no reason for not treating an epileptic...provided you have checked it is safe to do so, yes they can become very relaxed & possibly have an attack...but then so could you or I[&:]
Best thing to do there...is be sure you know what to do should a client have a seizure
Anyone with severve mental illnesses should not be treated
What is considered to be a severe mental illness? If someone who is 'present of mind' is requesting your help...why should the answer be a down & out 'no' surely it would be better to assess the situation and decide how you can help/treat this person...
I have worked with Adults with Learning Difficulties...and believe me they respond well to Crystal Therapy...it helps them to relax and that is what many 'Mental' conditions require
Anyone who is being supervised by the doctor, without a referral
Hmmm tricky...but, I have not met a doctor yet that refers any patients to a Crystal Therapist...but I may be wrong there...it may happen, but not in my neck of the woods.
Again, depending on their condition...why not?
Many blessings

RE: Any crystal restrictions...
Hi Everyone,
I must thank you for your responses, it's been very helpful to me and is beginning to make sense. I have been feeling as if I will never understand this course I'm on. Even though we're about half way through I don't feel as if I'm learning very much on how do to an actual treatment! It's very scary to feel like that, with the responsibilies of the outcome to think about. A few of the treatments I've done have left the person feeling like their head is all blocked up and some have had a headache... I don't know why it's happening and I'm getting no feed back about it either... so, if any of you know what I'm talking about, I'd love to hear your opinions on it...
Thanks for your support..
Star.
RE: Any crystal restrictions...
Hi Starshine
Sounds as if you're not moving the negative energy away from the head enough...a piece of selenite/selenite wand should do the trick:)

I studied the subject for two years over a three year period[&:] and the whole time I was studying it...I didn't understand why I was doing it or much of the subject matter, and I use to come home with the most horrid headaches...
but, when the course had finished and I started to find 'my' way around everything ~ things started to fall into place...with Crystals you will always be learning...its a very long but wonderful path to walk

RE: Any crystal restrictions...
Hi Stormdeva,
I understand what you are saying that everybody finds their 'own way' around things and I can't say that i agree with the tutor, or VTCT for that matter, but I think they are safe guarding themselves.
She did say about the mental illnesses it was things such as split personalities, (can't remember the proper name, soz), and extreme cases.
My tutor did however say that we would not get insurance to treat minors under 16, do you know if this is true? I supposed this is VTCT being extra careful.
RE: Any crystal restrictions...
My tutor did however say that we would not get insurance to treat minors under 16
Interesting...whether its true or not...I'm not sure. However, I do have insurance to practice as a Crystal/Reiki 'whatever' practicioner and provided I have the consent of the parent and that of the minor (if they are old enough to know their own minds) there has never been any problems...
I will say here though it is always wise to get a 'disclaimer' signed by an adult ~ before working with youngsters.
RE: Any crystal restrictions...
wow.. what a amazing thread..
so true.. we do learn all the time..( most times I am confused) but so much knowledge from you guys.. I stand back in awe....[sm=jump3.gif]
would love to do a course .. but not sure if the brain can handle all the extra input - not as young as I would like to be...
anyways just wanted to say.. thanks you for all the insight..
RE: Any crystal restrictions...
I don't have any selenite yet, but I know I must get some soon, it seems to crop up so many times when discussing crystals and I know I love it before I have any..
thanks Jay for your advice (once again), so do I put the selenite near the head, use a wand over the head, how would you do it? One girl even ended up crying, I felt terrible. How would you deal with that in a treatment scenario? I just felt awful and responsible for doing it..
We were only practising and it all ended up like that.
Thanks everyone else too for their comments, it's enlightening and so helpful.

RE: Any crystal restrictions...
Hi Star
so do I put the selenite near the head, use a wand over the head, how would you do it?
I would very gently run the selenite through the aura with slow(ish) sweeping movement away from the head, or if doing the whole body from the head down to the feet almost like stroking the aura ~ always directing the negative energy back to Mother Earth (the ground)
One girl even ended up crying, I felt terrible. How would you deal with that in a treatment scenario? I just felt awful and responsible for doing it..
The thing about crystals IMHO is that you are not responsible for how a client feels when they are receiving healing...this girl obviously had alot to deal with and it had surfaced with the crystals, now I don't mean to sound horrible...but there really is nothing you can do...I always explain to clients (or anyone that you may be practicing on) that having crystal healing may bring up lots of emotions ... so be prepaired...and you have the tissues ready;)
We were only practising and it all ended up like that
Then that was a positive treatment that you had given there...well done you:D

RE: Any crystal restrictions...
I really don't understand the question, and I'm new here so I don't know exactly what your doing. These are the restrictions I know about. These are possible side effects from wearing programed crystals. According to the book Crystal Awareness by Catherine Bowman. The possible side effects are: headaches, energy tingles, numbness, diarrhea/upset stomach, negativity, lightheadedness, and the exceptions. I had the terrible headaches (I thought my brain was going to explode). The book advices to take off the crystal until you feel better.
