RE: Did ITEC reflexology theory today
Hi LTA,
Mines the other way round. Just did the practical which we all passed and have the theory on the 18th.
Our examiner was great and put us at ease and asked us pretty simple questions. What have you learnt from the consultation, what have you niticed from reading the feet and what have you noticed from the treatment compared to the consultation?
Then questions about contra-indications etc.
Remember, they are there to pass you not to catch you out.
Best of Luck,
Russell

RE: Did ITEC reflexology theory today
:DHi Rosie!
Yes the time has flown by, and I have to say I think we have all three of us at some point wondered what on earth we have gotten ourselves into, but it's all beggining to come together now.
I don't know about Russ or Loopy Lass but I had times when I wanted to give up. So glad I didn't. I feel so much more positive now and have plans for what I want to do in the future, I enjoyed my Massage course last year, but once it was over did not know what direction to take, this year is different, I have big plans, and fingers crossed I have made a usefull contact. One of my case studies is a practice manager, large surgery, five doctors, nurses and health care workers etc, she has been so impressed with Reflexology, mention has been made of a room for therapies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! now I'm not silly enough to get all excited about this (No wait a minute,[sm=bouncy.gif] [sm=jump2.gif][sm=jump3.gif][sm=dance.gif]yeah I am) But who knows? it might just happen.
Good luck to Russ and Loopy in the rest of your exams, and any more Ideas on oral questions would be very welcome.
RE: Did ITEC reflexology theory today
Well Done Sis !! We know you have done well and will make a success of all that hard work and stress........so proud of you

RE: Did ITEC reflexology theory today

It's helped a lot this year having you along for the ride, albeit in a different course.
I am proud of you too, you have worked sooo hard and are so goood at what you do!
I just know there is a distinction on the horizon for you.
Errrm Any chance of a leg wax next week?;)

RE: ITEC Reflexology exam questions 2006
Jenny many thanks for taking the time to write all these out for us.. it's appreciated.. past papers are like golddust here and you've probably helped several people up their grades by posting. Thanks again!
RE: ITEC Reflexology exam questions 2006
Is this ethical? Are there really people out there who are only qualifying because they have good short term memory? Some of this knowledge looks pretty essential for a therapist to me...........
Presumably theres an assessment by the course tutor too?
Sharon
RE: ITEC Reflexology exam questions 2006
hi sharon,
i am beginning to think the same actually.
when i first started to see the "sample" question papers posted here, i thought it was a tremendous resource. as a student, it would have been great to have had sample papers to practise on and get a feel for the type of questions. mind you, when i did the exams, the answers were essay style, so very different.
imo, multiple choice isnt necessarily the best method of exam, although of course, far easier for marking.
now i am a tutor, and having met with ITEC representatives and discussing this situation, i have to say...
students, you are doing yourselves a diservice by supplying the questions and answers... especially from what could be a currently circulatiing papers. true, maybe the chances of someone reading these papers getting the same questions is slim, but even so... "YOU" worked hard to do the exam and now "YOU" are giving someone else the answers... someone perhaps less able than yourself and therefore perhaps, who is not yet ready to be out there practising?
as a tutor, having sample questions is great to show students what may be asked... and for assessment, but i am thinking, generally publishing current papers is maybe not a good thing.
just my opinion, of course.
RE: ITEC Reflexology exam questions 2006
With ITEC you (currently) have to do 10 Case studies and loads of coursework all of which have to acheieve a pass mark before you even get to sit the exams. You then get asked questions by the examiner whilst you are doing your practical exam. There is no way in my opinion that having some exams questions is going to be enough to qualify as a Reflexologist.
It may up your marks a little.
I did think about it before posting the questions and felt comfortable with it.

RE: ITEC Reflexology exam questions 2006
Hi All,
I am currently studying ITEC Reflexology.
At first i thought that these sample questions were a bit too good to be true but i feel that these actually got me through my A&P as it is a totally different way of revising and this is the way that best suits me, it is not a question of remembering the answers, it is a question of having a go at the question, looking at the answer to see if it is whatI thought then going through my notes/text books to check that the answer is correct. As i cant revise by reading a book and then try to remember exactly everything that i have just read.
Most of the questions that I practiced last year appeared on the paper and i could actually visualise the answer, tis a good feeling when you actually know the answer before looking at the choices and not through cheating but by revising
I have got my exams in May/June and I have got 40 case studies to hand in by May 15th it has been a hard slog so far but i am determined to ace it!! I thought massage was hard enough but this course really pushes you to the limit![:@]
Good luck to all who are in the same boat and hopefully there will be some qualified Reflexologists amonst us!!!

Negative: which one of these in NOT a direct reflex for colitis
)where is the duodenum reflex
q)Is the pancreas reflex on? ie:left foot, both feet etc
q) direct reflex for colitis
q) Indirect reflex for cystitis
q) 5 or 6 questions on where the points were
q) which area on the foot does the liver cover ie: below midline toes 4&5 left foot, below midline toes 3&4 left foot
what is hallux valgus? ie lateral displacement of big toes,
what is plantar fascitis? Plantar fasciitis is a condition usually linked with flat feet. There is a lot of pain when putting pressure on the soles of the feet. This is caused by ligaments that run the length of the foot becoming stretched and inflamed and sometimes calcifying, leading to another condition called spur heel. I've had both plantar fasciitis and spur heel and this condition was helped by having a biomechanical assessment and orthotics fitted.
Therapywise "I have been told by quite a few people that we need to revise everything from the Louise Tucker book."
Squiggs "We have been working from reflexology a practical approach by Vicki Pitman. "
AShropshireLady "Although the exam was supposed to be two hours long i completed it in about 40 minutes (having gone over and over it). The questions were fairly common sense and simple...........5 questions alone were on other therapies...........which is a massive 10 points. I think you only need 65 to pass. I got 94% without any revising so if you do revise you should easily get 100% (smile). "

We have just done the ITEC Reflexology Practical yesterday and here is some feedback.
The examiner was very very friendly, put us all at our ease and smiled a lot and was very encouraging when asking questions.
Our Tutor rang us last night with our results and we all passed BUT we did get quite a lot of negative feedback.
So - you must sit with your back supported by the chair at all times. You must sit up and not slouch (the person who got this negative criticism gives excellent reflexology treatments !)
Hair must be plastered to head, off forehead and behind ears with not 'fashionable tendrils' falling out if you have it up.
Get up and great your client ! Our examiner was so friendly and relaxed at the start and our clients were all sitting in the front of the salon. The examiner just said ok, go to your therapist now (all jolly and it was almost like a free for all) two of us were using the front couches and our clients were with us before we knew it - apparently we didn't stand up to greet them ! So worth remembering.
The questions : she just spent a short time with each of us, What would you do for hay fever and show me the areas to work
What would you do for whiplash.
What's the importance of consultation and foot reading.
What reactions might you expect to get from your client during a treatment.
