Hi there guys and gals,
Just wanted to share a few pointers with you regarding this exam, which will hopefully provide some benefit and steer you in the correct revision direction.
With the Active IQ Level 2 Gym Instruction A&P exam the areas that you need to cover are:
The Heart and Blood Circulation/Respiration - they normally like to know about what chambers of the heart are what and what the pulmonary veins/arteries etc do, also the Vena Cava.
The Body's Energy Systems (as in ATP, Glucose etc)
Joint Types and Movements (Pivot, Hinge, Ball and Socket circumduction, dorsiflexion, rotation etc etc)
Muscular Movements and Muscles Contractions (Isotonic, Isometric, Concentric, Eccentric, Agonist, Antagonist etc)
Muscle Fibre types as in Fast and Slow twitch fibres and their properties etc.
Also have a look at what exercises help tone what muscles as in lateral raises will define the deltoids, dead lift will define the erector spinae etc. Those type of questions also arose.
I thought I would share this as I couldn't really find much when I did a search for such information and thought maybe others might be interested.
Hope this helps.
Love and hugs
Kat
Active IQ Level 2 Gym Instructor A&P Exam
Hi Kat,
Only recently found this website and looking around saw your post. Thanks for the breakdown on the things to study for exam. I'm doing the Active IQ Level 2 Gym Instructor A&P Exam and am finding it tough going.
is there anyway you can be my study buddy or at least can I help me with the areas I'm having problems learning? Namely, the muscles and joints - insertions, origin, movements? I'm going crazy trying to remember each bit. Thanks.
J
Please note the previous advice (2007)is now out of date
the questions have changed now the qualification is QCF
Your tutor should tell you the contents on which it is now based (Unit 1 in your manual)
ie
- Circulatory system
- Respiratory system
- Skeletal system (inc joints)
- Muscular system (Properties, basic structure, name, locations, actions)
- Special pops (note this is new and was not in the one previously mentioned)
- Energy systems
- Nervous system
You'll also be given a mock paper to help you prepare (all are MCQs)
Short of giving you the actual exam questions , if you have anything which your tutor is unable to answer (you should ask them first), then I do what I can to help
Good luck with your studies, exam is not too hard honest

Active IQ Level 2 Gym Instructor Course
Thanks Ray,
really appreciate the guidance and advise. Will definitely speak to tutor and offer to assist further. What I really need is probably good study skills and getting rid of nervous anxiety related to exams. Any tips there?:(
Will post back when exam taken.
