A thread for peeps to relay their simple scientific facts. I'll start with these choice gems:
If one dissolves 80kgs of salt into 12 litres of warm water, one can turn one's bath into a flotation tank.
Wrinkly hands and feet caused by being in the bath too long, can be prevented by applying lard before immersion.
One cannot keep one's eyes open during loud bangs. This applies to balloon poppings and bombs.
Why is it that when people are lost in cars, they turn down the sound of the car radios?

Does natural science count? 😉
The Duck Billed Platypus and the Spiny Anteater are the only two creatures who exist in the Monotremata family. They are the only ones who lay eggs and suckle their young.

A rhinocerous's horn is actually made of compacted hair
Guitars often have to be tuned onstage because the lighting is hot and causes the strings to expand which produces a distorted sound
Isaac Newton is credited with inventing the cat flap as well as discovering the law of Gravity.
and my personal favourite, there is no such thing as time or chronology as only 'space exists'....therefore we could be living in the past or future instead of the perceived present!!
RE: I Can Do Science, Me!
I've dug up an old thread about the theory I mentioned above:

When learning about advertisement in school I watched a video about tv advertisement and it said that the ice cream in the adverts is actually coloured mashed potato as the ice cream would melt under the studio lights; things may have changed now though.
