Will Plutos reclassification by scientific consensus actuallymodify the ways in whichPlutoastrologically affects our lives?
RE: Reclassification of Pluto
Hi,
I don't think it matters what you call something 'by any other name a rose would smell as sweet' said Will Shakespeare. Pluto planet, or planetoid has been observed by the astrological community since its discovery - with quite a degree of accuracy. You only have to think of the atomic age to realise that since the 1940's mankind had the power to annhilate their fellow inhabitants of this planet on a massive scale. Pluto has been assigned the co-ruler with Mars of Scorpio and rules, death, transformation, rebirth, survival obsession, compulsion, paranoia.
Pluto the God of the Underworld. Pluto gives us a glimpse into our personal underworld (that which we are unconscious or unaware of) - it deepens and intensifies our experience.
On a more personal level anyone that has experienced major pluto transits know that whatever planet it touches in our natal chart is transformed consciously or not, if it's resisted then change is inevitable.Since Pluto's discovery all manner of taboos have been brought out into the open to be transformed.
I guess I'm biased as I'm an astrologer - I do believe our model of awareness has extended
to include other dimensions of our universe - Long may Pluto reign - although it does seem that his crown or mask of invisibility has been shaken - but what do you expect with Pluto lurking around the area of Sagittarius around the Galactic Centre.

RE: Reclassification of Pluto
But what about the reason why it is being reclassified i.e. the discovery of some new "planetary" bodies that are larger than Pluto? Will these new bodies be incorporated into astrology? Will astrology be thrown on it's head or will these new bodies allow for more accurate astrological readings to be made?
So many questions... 😉
RE: Reclassification of Pluto
TBH I'm not sure Pluto should be a part of astrology. And as Giles points out, one body after another like it is being found now. When there are, say maybe 30 [&:]isn't that going to get a bit complex?

RE: Reclassification of Pluto
Hi,
Just by chance I went into a bookshop last week looking out for second hand astrology books, had a chat with the guy running the shop (a great shop just selling books for animal charity) - and he was telling me about the Sumerians (where our astrology stems from) - and they had 10 planets in their system of astrology. We started chatting and I said that I had heard about this through a video of Alexander Zitchkin.
This was at a time when only 7 planets were visible to the naked eye. Needless to say more have been discovered - Uranus, Neptune, Pluto adding up to 10.
Not to dismiss Sedna which was discovered approx 2 years ago. Astrologers are now working on what Sedna corresponds to astrologically.
I think the addition of the planets coincides with the development (involution or evolution) of the planet.
