Hi everyone - the outpouring has been such a help. Update after Jim's assessment is this:
Jim was interviewed/assessed for over 2 hours. They will contact him next Tuesday with their decision and let him know if they have a bed available. He was not clear about what that meant, I don't think he understood it any more than I did in speaking with him. Probably they make a person wait to test the commitment level? Anyway, he is still on track. They suggested outpatient treatment, where he would go during the day and be home at night. He said "no" to that, explaining that if they sent him home he would drink.
Please keep up your support for him - thank you, J
read your post jen and i am sending you reiki and praying for you and your brother. it is so good that he is now ready to reach out for help. when someone drinks that much it is so hard for them to stop. i have known people who have and the only way for them to come off it is by them selves wanting too.i wish your brother success in this.he is lucky to have such a devoted sister.
Thank you Rose - oh my I am touched and helped by your and everyone's posts.
I am not worthy of that devoted distinction, really - All I can tell you is that Jim has a strong spiritual presence which is watching over him, I call it God. It was God, I believe, which put it in my heart, compelling me to flat out tell Jim what I did. I am thankful I listened and acted. It was / is hard to tell such personal information like I did, but I believe too that the support which everyone is sending is crucial, so truly it is the devotion of many which is upholding him, and me. This is the miracle of us humans IMHO. Your kind words and Reiki are so wonderful, and more thanks, J
Still with you hun, keep us posted.
Love and Reiki Hugs
Thank you Giles! He is to hear tomorrow about the assessment results, but I'll call him in a little bit to find out if anything is new and report back.
