Sylvia Browne suggests in her book "The Other Side and Back" that "the whole reason we leave The Other Side to come here from time to time is to learn, and to experience and overcome negativity. So not only do we not choose easy life themes for ourselves, but many times we choose a primary theme and a secondary theme that conflict with each other, to really challenge ourselves." 😀
She then lists 44 life themes with brief descriptions. If anyone wishes for me to post a chosen one, please feel free to just ask. 😉
Activator, Aesthetic Pursuits, Analyser, Banner Carrier, Builder, Catalyst, Cause Fighter, Controller, Emotionality, Experiencer, Fallibility, Follower, Harmony, Healer, Humanitarian, Infallibility, Intellectuality, Irritant, Justice, Lawfulness, Leader, Loner, Loser, Manipulator, Passivity, Patience, Pawn, Peacemaker, Performance, Persecution, Persecutor [:@] Poverty, Psychic, Rejection, Rescuer, Responsibility, Spirituality, Survival, Temperance, Tolerance, Victim, Victimizer [:'(] Warrior, Winner.
I like to think of myself as an aspiring humanitarian and healer ... but if they usually conflict in order to benefit from a challenge, I guess I've got at least one wrong [>:] If anyone can help me out - please do 😉
Love and light,
@nnie:)
RE: Which life theme did YOU choose?
Believer
I cannot understand how we can chose a life theme as we are not in the position tochose before hand; at least that is what I believe. Rather we can shape our life to be better or worse than what we would "like" to be. Sure we make choices in life and those choices determine our future; but we make choices as we live, not before hand.
RE: Which life theme did YOU choose?
In the book that Annie has recommended, it clearly states that the lessons we come to earth to learn is about spirituality - I haven't got the book now having lent it to my daughter, so I cannot quote from it at the moment.
However, we often have a purpose too as well as learning how to become more spiritual. Our purpose is connected to our physical circle, and has been given to us for most part - some things still cannot be divulged, until the time is right. ( So that we do not opt out of the agreement we all made before being born. )
This has been discussed several times on the old forum, where Kim put forward her theories of % of free will and contract, for the life we wished to undertake this time round. ( It is the same for each incarnation we take. )
We need the earth plane to advance ourselves spiritually. It is what has been termed as a 'schoolhouse' for learning here, for the hardships cannot be experienced on the higher planes of existence. It was never meant to be an easy ride - what would we ever learn if it was ?
The contacts that are made by us, and those affecting the life we will live are done by those beings whose responsibility it is to ensure that nothing is left to chance, that all life is preordained. We choose our own parents, as the people who will help us to achieve the aims we aspire to. Everything is taken into consideration and the free will allows us to change what happens to us to a degree. If we stray from the chosen pathway that we are supposed to be on, - we often find ourselves drawn back to that same pathway time and again, or, as may happen too we decide to go one way, but eventually find the right one to fulfil our destiny.
Each obstacle we come up against during our lives moulds our character as we overcome and grow more in the process.
with love
RE: Which life theme did YOU choose?
Each to his and her own Alex 😉 We're all, thank God, entitled to our own beliefs and theories 😀 and then, thanks to folk like Mike 😉 have a wonderful opportunity to share them, whilst learning about others. I believe that we carefully prepare our own BLUEPRINTS with the help of 'masters' (mistresses or its) & those who we choose to take advice from, and at the same time, we select our spirit guides, helpers and soul mates who then promise to watch over us during our brief time away (only about a day in spirit world, so we don't expect too much really!) 😀 and then VOILA! we take 'flight' on our 'next' journey of acomplishment and learning and whatever else we set out to experience and achieve [8D] Of course I also believe that God takes a look at our blueprints and helps us to cross a few 'items' off, or possible to include a few that we may have overlooked, or thought ourselves incapable of enduring or achieving. (Probably those we sometimes refer to as 'Lifes little knocks".) [:@] (Ohhhh! I just spotted my @ sign as this nasty beast before it's transformed into picture form! :()
Well, all that is just what I think ... for what it's worth! 😀
May I live to learn MUCH, MUCH more whilst I'm here 😉
Love and light;)

PS: Come on Alex ;), pick one of the above for fun, and see whether it resonates with you or someone you know [8D]

RE: Which life theme did YOU choose?
Hi Annie,
Just a quick one before I dash off to watch neighbours - I was going say that I could put my name down for half a dozen - but -
As our circle is called 'Harmony' and this is the main purpose for my being here - I will choose that for the 'reading' please and see what turns up.
Others were - catalyst, cause fighter, healer, poverty, peacemaker, spirituality - so take your pick from the others.
with love
P.S. this is my youngest great - granddaughter Molly on her first school (playschool ) photo @ 14 months.
RE: Which life theme did YOU choose?
Freda - as usual you explain things so well.
Your little MOLLY is an absolute picture![sm=newangel.gif]
RE: Which life theme did YOU choose?
my life theme is LOVE!
RE: Which life theme did YOU choose?
Annie, this is very interesting topic. I must read this book.
I would think Justice and Spirituality would be my ones.
Although I have to think about it (with my head stuck in clouds, thinking about the world of "spirits", I might be forgeting why I am here[sm=rollaugh.gif][sm=FIFangel.gif]) Thanks for reminding me Annie
Love
Tanita
RE: Which life theme did YOU choose?
All of the following descriptions are those of Sylvia Browne's in her book "The Other Side and Back" [sm=FIFangel.gif]
For Freda: HARMONY "Peace, calm, and balance aren't just the top priorities of people with a harmony theme, they're the only priorities, and they'll go to any extremes to maintain those priorities. On the plus side, they're wonderfully cooperative and can have a quietening effect in chaotic situations. On the minus side, they can find it very difficult to accept and adjust to the inevitable bumps, bruises, and stress life has to offer." [sm=grouphug.gif]
For Marijke: LOVE .... YOU ARE LOVE MY DEAR! [sm=1kis.gif]
For Tanita: JUSTICE: "People with a justice theme are in an active, lifelong pursuit of fairness and equality. Some of our greatest presidents and activists such as the Reverend Dr Martin Luther King are exquisite examples of the justice theme at its finest. Sadly, at its worst, when it's misguided and without God as its center, this passion for righting a wrong can result in riots, anarchy, and vigilantism." [sm=nuts.gif]
SPIRITUALITY: "PEOPLE WHOSE THEME IS SPIRITUALITY WILL SPEND A LIFETIME IN A FERVENT SEARCH FOR THEIR OWN SPIRITUAL CENTER, IF NOT AS A PROFESSION, THEN CERTAINLY AS A CONSTANT PERSONAL DRIVE. The more they search, the more new territory they discover to look into. At its highest potential, the spirituality theme creates boundless inspiration, compassion, far-sightedness, and tolerance. At its lowest, it can manifest itself in narrow-mindedness, judgementalism, and the dangerous isolation of fanaticism." [sm=ladys-man.gif]
For Tigerbee: HEALER: "Healers are often but not necessarily drawn to the physical or mental healing professions. Their chosen theme of healing can express itself in a variety of forms, all of them involving the easing of pain and the improving of a life's well-being. It is imperative that healers learn to protect themselves from empathizing too closely with those they're trying to heal, and to pace themselves carefully to avoid an overload of the stressful problems their theme has drawn them to."[sm=newangel.gif]
God bless you all [sm=FIFangel.gif][sm=grouphug.gif]

PS: Molly's the cutest DOLLY i've seen in ages Freda!
RE: Which life theme did YOU choose?
Hi,
Just to throw another idea in here...
I had been reading that once one begins to gain mastery on the earth, and blend more with their higher self, many of the contracts and pre-ordained plans for the lifetime become obsolete. So if there is a percentage between free will and contracts, it begins to lean in favour of free will because one begins to do God's will (and that of the higher self) over and above their individual, personality desires. They advance into a new kind of classroom on earth in other words!!! This idea could be possible I think...though who amongst us are masters walking the earth?? Not me!
I think my life theme could be Spirituality, but you have already described that one Annie 🙂
love, Linnie
RE: Which life theme did YOU choose?
Annie
This is fascinating; I shall keep an eye open for the book.
But I just can't hit on my life theme, except that 'catalyst' kept popping into my head. Could you post details on that one, please?
Much love
Sunanda xxx
RE: Which life theme did YOU choose?
Dear Sunanda 😉
CATALYST: "As the word suggests, catalysts are the movers and shakers, those who make things happen and mobilize inactivity into action. They're energetic, enthusiastic, and seem to excel particularly in stressful circumstances. They feel empty and depressed without a goal to tackle and conquer."
Sounds fitting enough to me 😀
Hugs;)
@nnie:)
RE: Which life theme did YOU choose?
Aw, I dunno....sometimes I'm paralysed by inertia. I don't think I'm really a mover and a shaker. I thought it might just mean someone who likes to help others.[sm=1kis.gif]
RE: Which life theme did YOU choose?
How does this one sit with you then dear Sunanda? 😉 [:-]
HUMANITARIAN: "Humanitarians, by definition, are born to extend themselves toward humankind. Instead of addressing life's wrongs and inequities through sit-ins and protests, humanitarians step past the protestors to directly feed the hungry, house the homeless, bandage the wounded, teach the uneducated, and generally address the world's ills head-on. They face a twofold challenge: knowing there's an infinite amount of work to be done, but also knowing when and how to stop and rest and keep themselves from burning out."
Love and light 😀
@:)
RE: Which life theme did YOU choose?
hahaha:D Annie, thank you, I enjoyed reading about my choice -Jusice and Spirituality. Gosh, I should be careful not togo into extremes!!! Anarchy..mmm .. ye, that's me, I can't stand the authorities and rules (especially if they are totally stupid!).
Fanatism - is not my cup of tea, because I believe in logic and use it.
Of cause I need to read the whole book to understand it and to make the right choice. I'll keep an eye on it.
Thank you Annie, I really enjoyed the topic.

RE: Which life theme did YOU choose?
I see what you mean Believer besides our inner being we do take the roles our soul likes to play best and are our favorites.
I think i choose most times: Responsibility, Tolerance, Warrior/Cause Fighter,Builder, Analyser, Intellectuality,Controller, Peacemaker, Irritant, Justice, Harmony, Patience and Spirituality.
Wanting justice some times gets me into trouble but i watch it carefully that i don't drive it to far altough my heart says that is fair.
Sometimes i take the: Passivity,Rejection and Loner role when i am depressed. I am a leo so sometimes i have my days with dark taughts.
I would like the winner and leader roles but hahaha since the playground i don't seem to able to play those very much.
I also have a stong resentment against the: Loser, victim, follower and manipulator roles: gues that also say a lot about me. And survival i have done long enough i want more then that but sometimes fall back in it.
And i don"t know what the next roles means: Banner Carrier, Fallibility, Infallibility, Pawn and Temperance.
RE: Which life theme did YOU choose?
hi Annie
Gosh I could choose about 18 of that list [sm=tongue.gif] OOW ERR! Perhaps i'm meant to be a jack of all & master of none[&:]
I do feel that we chose what we learn while here & who will help us to do so. I think that freewill is a part of our being even then.
RE: Which life theme did YOU choose?
Well I am here to be me and just experience
what ever is presented to me in the moment
For there is nothing for me to learn for this is happens in me being human and why should I load on the self created judgments “should and could ext”
I can be any thing that I want to experience being
A grate lover father and friend
Have a awesome time in any thing you decide to experience being
Love brent:D
RE: Which life theme did YOU choose?
Annie
Looking at that list Warrior jumped out at me as did Healer. Can't see how these two go together but never mind!
L&L
MC
RE: Which life theme did YOU choose?
Well MC healing is definitly not for the weak!
So the combination is not weird at all in my opinion.
RE: Which life theme did YOU choose?
Here goes dear M.C. 😉 and HEALER is above [8D]
WARRIOR: "Warriors are our fearless risk takers, our soldiers, our pioneers and astronauts and firefighters and countless other unsung heroes with the courage to step up to a physical, moral, and/or spiritual challenge from the mundane landscape of everyday life; to the front lines of wars against crime, drugs, natural disasters, and homicidal tyrants; to the vast unconquered worlds in space. Without direction, the warrior's aggression can be destructive. But when focused, especially with a secondary humanitarian theme, those with a warrior theme can make historic contributions of global significance."
Ohlalalalala Indra 😉 to cover yours, I'd have to copy the BOOK 😀
Love and light,
@:)
RE: Which life theme did YOU choose?
Dearest Annie
I'm honoured that you see me as a Humanitarian. It's something I aspire to...Thank you.

wow! I hadn't realised that HP carried all the postings from so far back. Some old, familiar names there from the distant past.....
I'd look back at my own, old postings if I could take the risk of embarrassing myself!;)

Yes, the posts do go back. One or two newer people actually look at pretty old posts. I tried it once myself and it was interesting how people (me too) have moved on as characters here (or, mostly, left and joined). You may find interesting topics there too, in the past, meaning a few years back.
But I think there still may remain some form of problem? Last I looked, the particularly very long posts got truncated after so many characters - but still quite a few paragraphs are there. In fact I looked some months back at a thread, and it all seemed to be there, though I understand things were lost in a software change over a while back?
---------------------------------
The thread topic could always be taken up again. It's been six years! Without yet reading what goes before, though it may sound like a cliche, I think you can sum up why people are reborn in terms of, roughly,
(1) negative karma to be balanced,
(2) lessons and growth to be learned, and
(3) a particular mission - probably several of different sizes - in this life. I've had very clear insights into how all of these apply to me - karma, learning, and missions especially - but they are too personal to go onto a public forum I feel.
For example, I completed some major tasks but wouldn't want to brag about them, and then my momentum in doing that dried up somewhat, and I'm not happy about that either.
I think my point 2 above - we are reincarnated over and over IMO - to grow as spiritual beings, is the main thing. All others are a part of that. It goes back to what the very purpose of incarnation is. IMHO it's certainly to grow, as we are intended to become more than we (down here - or even up there) are. We are developing or evolving beings. Nothing stands still. And there is a purpose to incarnation/reincarnation (a different thread subject really).
V 🙂
"In fact I looked some months back at a thread, and it all seemed to be there, though I understand things were lost in a software change over a while back?"
I had thought the same, namely that many of the old postings were lost when the forum was revamped.
Not sure I want to go looking - I have some upsetting memories of once-friends.
