RE: Was I ever a tree?

I suggest that you read "Journey of Souls" by Michael Newton. The book contains case histories of past life regressions.

I would also like to recommend "Far Journeys" by Robert Munroe. Here is an extract from his book that answers some your questions re: levels of spiritual development:

Hi Mirrie

Yes - I am already some way through Michael Newton's book, which is kind of what prompted this soul searching! I was intrested in the bits where he was regressing a more advanced soul and she mentioned being incarnated as different life forms, but this was kind of glossed over and I wondered if there were more in depth examples of what it was like to be something other than human. I am loving Newton's book by the way, but haven't got to the end yet - so maybe some of my questions are answered by the time I finish it.

Robert Munroe - not heard of him yet, but sounds like one for me to order from the library. Thanks so much for the recommendations. HP is great for that isn't it? You can always come across someone who knows what you are after!

Re the discussion between Gilly and Sunanda - This was puzzling me too - why would be choose to come back as someone like a sex offender or a mass murderer? I can see that souls need to see all different aspects of incarnation and that being someone "bad" is also going to help others incarnating at the same time to learn their lessons - i.e holocaust victims were there to learn about experiencing persecution and if there had been no Hitler they wouldn't have had that opportunity. Is that what you mean?

In the Journey of Souls book it does pose the question why we cannot remember our past lives when we are born again (I accept some poeple can, but in general it is not part of our consciousness) - and the answer was basically that memories of past incarnations would interrupt with the lessons we were learning in this lifetime and prevent us from moving forward. Certainly if you led a particularly "bad" life before and you could remember what you did, it would make it difficult for you to work through anything because you would be consumed by guilt, I guess. Imagine you could remember senetencing thousands of people to death in concentration camps... you would never be able to live with yourself would you?

I know this is rather a simplistic view, but it is all so mind boggling, I need simple examples to begin to get to grips with it all.

Hi Sunanda, Hi Celtia,

Not facile at all;) Very neatly summed up Sundana. Especially the sentence 'so the BNP fits into the grand scheme of things' and I wanted to shout 'YEAH' because I couldn't find the words and you have:D

THAT is what my tutors told me, that EVERYTHING happens for a reason, and they pointed to the science and mathematics of the Universe - everything in control and balanced and there for a specific purpose (yes, even flies)[:'(] and so with the way human life unfolds. The horrors of recent Wars are there to move us forward - souls are never lost who are supposedly slaughtered in these conflicts, but have 'chosen' their fate in an incarnation in order to help humanity to look back and learn. It is by history and it's lessons, the people and their actions that we see how to live in the future, (At least this is my personal opinion);)

I honestly believe personally, that the Book of Souls is right about the reasons we cannot recall past lives. I can only see immense confusion if we could- and I think we are supposed to concentrate on the lives we have currently chosen in order to move on afterwards. There is always recourse to regression therapy of course, which does help some people, and perhaps they are MEANT to undergo this? Other ways are through deep meditation, as I saw my tutors do, but I was never able to go back into any other life - I must have a block;):D

RE: Was I ever a tree?

While I was younger and learning to control what was happening to me I seemed to go through a serious of past life situations in dreams and meditations although it was only snippets, I also read book on souls and reincarnations etc and I do agree with why we lose our memories as it would be very confusing and not really productive for this life.

I do believe that we reconnect with past lives through meditations and dreams, but that they can be disjointed such as dreams can be, there are parts that are true but parts that are fantasy to connect them. Also if you feel something about a past life then it is prudent that that did happen. I have feelings of so many things and also memories and know things that I think how do I know that, I put this down to my past lives and the knowledge that I need to move forward in this life.

There are elements of also the older your soul is the more you tend to remember as tho you are analysing your life and putting into context of what you have learnt etc.

Celtia

I beleiev that I too were once a tree and have very vivid dreams of running with a pack of wolves and can metapmorphise into a wolf very easy which I feel would not be the case had I not actually been one lol.

With love

RE: Was I ever a tree?

No one chooses to come back as a bad person. They choose parents, a family and lifestyle that present them with choices. They always have free will. Some souls are obviously weaker than others in that they make the WRONG choices while they are here, setting themselves back, karmically speaking.

Example: two souls come back and are sexually molested as children. One chooses to become a molester himself, the other doesn't. Free will.

But surely, NoPatterns, free will means the soul can be free to choose, before arriving here or anywhere else, what life it is meant to live. To say with such certainty, (who knows for absolute sure anyway) that no one chooses to come back as a bad person is only one perspective on this huge subject.;)
