Hey HP'ers!

Hope all is love and light at the moment. Need to pick your brains...

I keep seeing bumble bees at strange times.

When I got home the other week 100's had turned up at my house after I had visited a spiritual fair at which a strange meeting had occured. Then something else had happened in my life and the next morning (several weeks after the swarm) I woke up to buzzing in my room - and there was a bumble bee. I thought to myself, nope, this can't be a sign again. Anyway, I let the Bee go...and the next morning, as a sort of confirmation, another bumble bee had appeared as my morning alarm clock...almost as though the higher powers were saying - NO, don't disregard it, this is a sign...

If anyone knows the meaning or has thoughts I would love to hear them.

Desiderata 🙂

RE: Spiritual Meaning of Bumblebees

Hi Desiderata,

Whenever I see the bee, the first thing I get reminded of is to just "be", they always show up when im in my head too much and over analysing things..

Here is some info on the Bee....

The bee seems to be a universal symbol of diligence, obedience, and the
work ethic. Many ancient cultures considered bees to be the messengers
of the gods. The "busy" little bee in a number of traditions also becomes a
symbol of the human soul. The bee is a totem symbol for St. Ambrose and
St. John of Chrysostom.

The sign of the bee in Egyptian hieroglyphs seems to be analogous to royalty,
epitomizing the ideals of industry, creativity, and wealth, which are associated
with the diligent insects' production of honey. A very old myth portrays the bee
as having been created from the tears of Ra. In Medieval Europe, the myth was
converted to the bees having originated from the tears of Christ on the cross.

In ancient Greece, bees were considered to be the surviving souls of
priestesses who in their physical lives had served the goddess Aphrodite.
Mortal priestesses were called melissae (bees). According to tradition, the
second of the great temples constructed at Delphi was constructed by bees.

In British folklore, bees are often associated with mortality. If bees are seen to
be vacating a hive, it is an omen that the beekeeper is not long for this world. It
was also customary to "tell" the bees when there was a death in the family so
they would not fly away to another hive.

Among Native American tribes of the eastern seaboard, an old children's song
laments the sad fact that the hardworking bee has only one stinger with which
to defend the honey that all creatures-including humans-seem to prize so highly.
' The poor little bee/That lives in a tree/The poor little bee/That lives in a tree/Has
only one arrow/In his quiver.

Grandmother Twylab of the Seneca has said that the bee is the symbol of an
industrious, selfless, self-sufficient person who can deal with great success in
a wide range of activities.

If the bee is your totem guide, you will be given help in organizing the chaos
and confusion that life can often deal to us humans. You may also expect help
in cultivating your social skills. Your spirit helper will serve you well as a messenger
to the Great Mystery, and it will also bring you messages from higher realms of
consciousness in your dreams and visions.

An entity of peaceful organization and construction, the bee will also teach you how
to keep your "stinger" sheathed until you really need it.

Blessings
Aleeshia

Me again!

I realised I was just being lazy, so did a quick web search myself, and came up with a wide variation on what the bee symbolises:

Service, gatherings, community, industry, creativity ability, wealth, immortality, rebirth, chastity, secret wisdom, soul.

I can see the link between bees and industry and community as they are such industrious little creatures.

Hope this helps.

There is a wonderful work of fiction called The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Kidd. It is a novel about a young girl in America's South who is badly treated by her father and runs away. She is taken in by three Afro-American sisters who keep bees and make honey. It is a wonderful, wonderful book. I do recommend it.

RE: Spiritual Meaning of Bumblebees

I love bumble bees! They are fascinating creatures. I had two honey bees separately show up in my house a few weeks back - a sure fire sign for me.

Bee, according to the Druid Animal Oracle, invites you to celebrate, whether there be (!) a special reason or simply to celebrate the wonder of life. Bee tells us of harmony with others, of paying homage to the sun and centring our lives around Spirit or Goddess by working in community. Each bee knows its role and work as well as the value of organisation, goals and working hard. The significance of your bumble bees may be linked to the drone of their hum... drawing you into the dreamworld of summer days.

Hello, Well I just 'found' this post so I felt I should reply...I was very close to my grandad and when he was alive he used to look at bumblebees and show us each time. Now, whenever I and my family see a bumblebee we say "hello grandad". We feel it is him just saying hello. It may sound strange but its what we do. Have a happy day and god bless xxx
