Hi Ithar
I must admit to being a little confused. Why does this thread need cheering up a bit? Surely life is a mixture of positive AND negative and both are worthy of discussion.
RE: So much darkness?
Hi Sharon. All you can do is take this stuff with a pinch of salt. I have also had a look at the 'others' thread and choose not to read anymore of it. If people have all that stuff in their heads then I think it is very sad.
All that talk about dark shadows attacking people in the middle of the night is just scaring impressionable folk. To me it is something that is happening to them for a number of reasons, one of them being simply a dream state, nothing more.
Natural distasters have always occured and always will. We are just so much more aware of them now due to the media and they are nothing to do with evil. They are simply nature taking it's course.
Don't dwell on it Sharon. Keep away from postings like that and websites like that because it won't help. If others choose to discuss such things, so be it, you don't have to become involved.
Back to you original comment on spirituality. I personally think it is what is in your heart. If you are happy with yourself and don't hurt others then that's enough. It isn't to be confused with being psychic (although they cross over for some) and it isn't anything to do with God either, as lots of spiritual people, including myself, don't believe in God.
Be Happy Sharon!:D
RE: So much darkness?
Because when the energy is dragged down by dwelling on overly negative situations and feelings, we forget the truth of the matter - that we can have JOY rather than sorrow!
Butting in again... 😀

Hi David and Gilly
It's stories like the ones you've both shared that upsets me so much, I've read many stories like that on other disscuission gropus, I find it heartbreaking. That was the whole point of my post really that how easy it can be for people to get tied up in this 'darkness' ghouls thing and what 'can' happen if they do.
Just to try to illustrate, I'll say a little more just about that one friend of mine. She is hardly unstable as she never had been into her late 20s, and is now a responsible mother, wife, professional and charity worker. But when she contacted the esoteric or occult groups and belief systems she was very willing to believe, very open-minded, and unfortunately found first of all a group who from Day 1 just kept telling her about psychic dangers, things to protect yourself from, etc, etc. We then were in different parts of the world and I had no idea of her being sectioned and on medical drugs for months. In the end she found the strength to kinda overcome that and get back into the world and working...
But the programming, if we might call it that, was still there, and it emerged when we lived near each other in Montana years later. We were lying on a veranda one day looking up at the clouds, and she began talking in fear about the clouds being in the shape of skulls and bats, and that it must be the coming of demons and a bad omen. It was actually just a beautiful day (!), and I had a long talk with her about the fact that the clouds were not only physically just moisture pushed by the wind, but that in my worldview every cloud was a wonderful, beautiful elemental - a water elemental or undine, and being pushed along by air elementals or sylphs. Now, you don't have to believe that worldview either :D, but generally speaking I was showing how it was all beautiful and a harmless creation of God.
I saw this amazing transformation in her face, not just about this business with the clouds but because she suddenly started to realise how she could view everything in the opposite way to the negative she had taken on board. So for some days we embarked on a wonderful journey of her telling me all the fearful programming about negatives this psychic group had given her, and one by one we looked at these things and saw them as the natural phenomena or even beautiful things they in fact are. It was like watching someone reborn, and her joy was touching.
For one thing, as an esotericist I do believe that thoughts are things - or that thought shapes and changes the reality around us. Putting it another way, our present life is the result of our past thoughts / feelings and of our perspective on the world. It really is possible to live a life that is pretty much without negatives. Even 'negative' people can be viewed as mistaken children of God who are in need of help.
For another thing, I'm 'only human' and like all of us have some ups and downs, in other words experiencing different frequencies of feeling on different days or in different hours even. And in my experience the world takes on an appearance according to your own consciousness at any given time. It's almost as though you are really just looking at yourself in a mirror when you look out at the world. In moments of doubt or feeling low, you can feel certain that the world is 'obviously' a grey place, that there's a lot of darkness, etc., etc. Then if you raise yourself up into tremendous joy, such as spiritual attunement with the Divinity, or even non-religious happiness that is complete - then the world is simply a wonderful place to be, no darkness is viewed anywhere or ever recognised as such; the golden lining is seen behind every shadow, and passing problems are laughed off since a bright light is clear at such times at the end of a (short) tunnel.
So IMHO the world isn't dark, grey, or bright either in the human sense - all these perceptions are just reflections of what's going on in our own conscious or unconscious psyches. That's why two peop
