This morning Colin (GentleMan) had a revelation whilst waiting for the kettle to boil. When a person is in emotional pain, the body gives indication of this by producing physical pain. If we do not listen to this, and search for the underlying reason, the pain becomes more and more acute. The more we choose to ignor this, the louder the body will scream, until it becomes chronic. The Earth is now doing the same thing.
When the planes hit the two towers in New York, what did most people really do to help the victims and their families? Not a great deal, other than send prayers and healing. Did we really listen to the fact that we are actually a global village, and what we do to others is also being done to us? The Earth is a living body with its own consciounsess, which is now beginning to scream from years of neglect and abuse. We have not listened enough to her needs, and have abused her terribly. The tsumani may be just a foretaste of what is to come if we continue to ignor the Earth's pain.
This is not meant to frighten people, but merely to encourage people to think that we are in fact a global village, rather than individual states fighting to grab hold of what they can due to a perceived lack of resources.

RE: Thoughts on the Tsunami
Hello June,
I think that you may be right about this. Aside from the physical slippage of the trench, which caused the disaster, there may have been a more spiritual element to it as well. I have noticed that whenever the planet thinks that man is taking more than he is giving, it 'arranges' disasters to help redress the balance and bring itself back into equillibrium.
If we agree that planet Earth has a spirit and is alive, then this would make perfect sense.
Thank you for voicing what I have been thinking....
Love,
Patsy.

RE: Thoughts on the Tsunami
Hi June, I'm wondering whether this might signal a time of change (me and my naive, ever-positive attitude!) - so many people were affected in so many different countries that it does seem to have brought many nations together. I was reading somewhere the seperatists in Sri Lanka have even called a ceasefire - probably shortlived but you never know.
I think it's likely to remain clear in peoples memories for many years to come, especially when they go on holiday - I know every time I go to the beach I will be forever thinking of what happened. But whether or not people sit up and take notice, I'm sure time will tell.
I know our own personal problems take over if we're not reminded each day and I think the media has a big part to play in that - I can't stand them at the best of times but I think they have a responsibility to keep it in peoples memories. But it's finding a balance - sometimes, hearing about it each day will do more harm than good.
Anyway, just thoughts - sorry if it's a bit of a mish mash!!

RE: Thoughts on the Tsunami
Hi Girls
I agree wholeheartedly. I feel that this is meant as a wakeup call to listen and get more in tune with the earth. It hit the most vulnerable of areas, where there has been a population boom over the years. It is heartbreaking to see the aftermarth and see all the bodies of people and the destruction, but on the other hand I am amazed at the power of nature yet again, we believe that we rule the earth but on looking at the images do we really??......
My other half said something to me the other night when we were driving home from my sisters we were looking at the moon and he said "I have always wondered when they will start mining the moon". I was in total shock and said the never will as the moon is just the moon, but when he said that we had been doing the same to the earth for years it really sank in!
I really hope that the call has been heard and that in dealing with this disaster the world can unite on a more peaceful beginning, it is already happening in Sri Lanka, the Tamils had declared a start up again to war in early December but now they are confidant the peace talks may take over as they were one of the worst areas hit and no aid is getting to them.
with love

RE: Thoughts on the Tsunami
Hi everyone,
I am sure there are many like myself who have been profoundly affected by the images on telly of this disaster. One reporter said that it is the greatest natural disaster that the world has ever seen.
It seems ironic that while we sit at home having given and received gifts at this time of year that somewhere else there is tragedy of such immense proportion.
It is a tragedy that has touched so many lives and the affects of this will be felt for years to come.
I often wonder though, how is it that man can set his differences aside to come together and provide aide and assistance during events like these and then as soon as they get on their feet again, people revert back to their original bias and contempt for each other.
Why do we need tragedy and disaster to get back in touch with our human side?
Blessings
