I have to say, I am quite shocked at the reactions of people to the ‘Others’ thread on this thread and other threads about it…
I have only been back since yesterday, but did not feel up to posting because I am still riddled with flu, but I thought the ‘Others’ thread was very interesting. Not only the topic, but also the replies and the reaction of people to it…
It reads to me like a lot of scare mongering, by people who seem to want to say they know something we dont!
Anyway, sorry if that offends anyone, its just my opinion. But i have to say it did make me laugh at some peoples over inflatted ego, of being IN THE KNOW, and it was good reading. So thank you.
I think the above statement or ‘opinion’ is disrespectful of other people’s views and beliefs. It is ok to disagree with peoples views and beliefs but it is a different matter all together, when one ridicule and insult people’s experiences and beliefs and think what others believe to be laughable…
It is interesting you mentioned ego, because when I started reading the following line - It reads to me like a lot of scare mongering, by people who seem to want to say they know something we dont!, I also thought that 'ego' was an issue here, but only not in the way you see it, my first thought was, that the following statement sounded like someone who has an ego problem… by people who seem to want to say they know something we dont! (and by this statement I do not mean to criticize you, it is also just my opinion)
My personal opinion on this whole topic is, that I am glad that the topic of the ‘Others’ was raised. And it is good to read the reactions to it on this and the other thread too. I don’t think anyone should regret any of their posts made on any of these threads. I think there is a lot to be learned from all of this, and I think it got a lot of people thinking…
This is after all what HP is all about. People here usually agree and; or more importantly, respectfully disagree about matters and that is how we learn from our fellow HP’rs.
I did not mean to go off topic; I just thought I would remind people that HP is home to believers and skeptics and a vast array of belief forms and religions. Let us not forget to respect others, irrespective of what they believe is black or white…
Only my 2p worth. Hope I made sence as my head still feals as if it is filled with cotton wool.

That was my one and only objective here...I just wanted to get people thinking. Agree/disagree, by the by, each to their own, but from all this I justhoped it would make folk think, as I'm sure those on the others thread hoped too.
I will say though, in Beths defence I do see what she means. I've edited to add quotes like this don't help
Im OTT here since this has played on me since this thread started. I wasnt going to respond and in fact have set up secure private forums elsewhere where people may speak freely of things they KNOW are there since it is THEIR PATH and SERVICE TO US ALL to work at the periphery, protecting and defending ALL men - blinkered and Sighted.
Your natural reaction is...hey hang on a minute, there is a 50/50 chance either way, blinkered ( and from personal experience I do find this a lot) indicates folk know something we don't, better probably to say...those who believe and those that don't????.
