RE: Should mediums/readers charge a fee?
It's supply and demand. If more people want an item or service, the fee goes up. The alternative is to wait months or even years for a reading with someone you really want to see. I don't like someone telling me who I can or cannot see or what I should or should not pay. It's my choice.
Great artists and musicians have a God given gift that most are happy to pay for. I don't see why anything else should be any different.
RE: Should mediums/readers charge a fee?
hi,
n
ot many of us earn £25 an hour, so what is a fair amount to charge?
true, but a lot of people earn hundreds of dollars an hour, every hour, not many tarot readers or psychics ever get to this level of earning, say as others might do in other profesions.
Also, most people earn a certain amount per hour..for example if in regular employment..they work x amount of hours per day and expect a certain pay each week....tarot readers cannot know how much work they will get.
They might charge 35 pounds for a reading..but I doubt they will do that for eight hours a day. Sometimes I will earn really good, other timeswill be quiet...even it out and I am far from rich..but I charge for a reading and I have never had anyone moan about the money.
I vary and often give readings for nothing where needed, but over all i charge thirty five pounds for a face to face reading, this never fits neatly inside of an hour..a client will come over and sit down...will have a drink and a chat. their reading will take an hour..I very often end up giving some healing at no extra charge if they want it, or I'll then work with crystals..i give a good service and it will take as long as it takes for the job to be done..i do not clock watch.
every reading is different..but always a special and positive, helpful experience for my clients, i also offer theraputic tarot and am a trained counsellor..I give to a client what they need.
I have never had anyone moan about the money...I frequently have clients wanting to give me more money...which i don't want..but they like to give me...I think it is because they have had a good experience, are very pleased and feel they got something extra and they like to give me something back...it is given in a caring and loving gesture.
I don't think 35 quid is masses, but fair...people don't mind handing that over to a private counsellor, a healer, a masuese..they know what they can afford and wish to pay...if they seek the help of a plumber it will be a bigger hourly rate.
To say i deserve or need less than a plumber is under valuing my service..i feel is just s improtant to my clients..i am not being arogant..but often a reading can be life changing and very helpful.
I would not encourage a client to have too many readings though..so you see there is little regualr business from a client and i certainly am not reading all day long..I charge as I need to.

Halimah,
Well said! I don't think that anyone could put a price on turning someone away from suicide using his/her insight, as I have done in the past.
Love,
Patsy.

RE: Should mediums/readers charge a fee?
Hi Brian, Patsy, Sol, Wendy,David, Roger, Hal et al,
(Funny how there are so many blokes around when we talk about money:D)
It hardly needs saying that an hour's temping or car-washing does not cost the same to the worker in human terms as giving a reading. The focus, concentration, skill and type of training required are all of a completely different order.
When I do film soundtracks I'm paid £77 an hour, but I'm lucky if there are three such hours in an average month. That money represents not only the intensity of my concentration but also the skills I've acquired through years of training at my own expense. It would be unthinkable ever to attempt more than 15 such hours in a week. The £77 also represents a tiny fraction of the value that the film-maker will draw from my work - probably financially rather than artistically, but that's their loss 😉
I'm happy to pay someone excellent £55 for a reading, partly because I only go if I feel it's a pressing need and partly because I recognise that they're unlikely to be doing very many readings in a week - it takes a lot of time and dedication just to BE that kind of person! If we want them, we have to support them - just like the Post Office! And just like Hal, most people in this work do give so very much more than just a reading.
Love and light

RE: Should mediums/readers charge a fee?
My view is that simply, people are paying for the healers/readers time and materials. The healing or reading is given for free. Although I'm not yet in a position to be taking on paying clients, still in my day job etc... if when I am charging for such, someone was to come to me who couldn't afford to pay for my time, I would not just turn them away, but compromise and do what I could to help. If they wanted many treatments then I would obviously have to limit how often etc. as it would be impossible for me to give up all my time to help someone who is giving nothing in return. There has to be a balance between giving and taking.
