RE: Should mediums/readers charge a fee?

I agree with what halimah says (and with many others). I don't see anything wrong with making money on whatever talent you have (as long as you are comfortable with it as Amber says). It seems to me, it makes more sense to earn money from something that you love to do and that gives you other benefits than just money than it would be to work at a job you hate just so you don't have to charge.

And I'll be honest--I personally want a job (I don't see it for me iin the "spiritual realm") that makes me feel good about myself, but one where I don't have to eat Macroni and Cheese or Egg salad sandwhiches every night because quite frankly...I'm sick of that and I want money to sometimes be able to splurge on myself and on my family and friends everyonce in awhile. I'd like money to travel and I don't want to depend on a "partner" for earning that for me. Just where I am right now I guess...lol

Edited to say: Saying that always makes me feel a bit guilty and defiant at the same time. I feel guilty for saying I want money and angry because i feel I shouldn't feel guilty...lol.

A thought about this subject came to me yesterday... 'to each according to their needs'. If you need energy in the form of money, you will get it. If you need energy in another form, say love, friendship and/or exchanged goods, you will get it.

Once when I asked why others made money from their gifts and I couldn't, I was told - that is their path, not yours. Sometimes our 'lower' self needs money because this is a material world, after all. Other times our 'higher' self reminds us that payment comes in many forms and so we are content with what is given. One thing's for sure - worrying about it gets us nowhere.

hi chaps

as others have stated, now days everybody needs an income, if readings are taking up too many hours to work then it is only fair, poeple will pay a councellor for guidence so why not a reader. however i would look at the charge, not many of us earn £25 an hour, so what is a fair amount to charge?

i have only ever had one reading in my life (thanks amy) and that was free.

aslo how could you measure value for money? could you have work related pay? im being silly now, sorry.

but when i see advertising for dial-a-reader i just wonder about the money being made over the direction given. bla bla bla,

Hello Brian,

Yes, it really is up to the mediums involved whether or not they want to charge for readings. I personally think that most people find value in goods and services that are paid for. Also, we must remember that a sitting with a medium isn't only about receiving proof of afterlife; it can also be a spiritual counselling session as well.

As far as value for money is concerned, the value is in the reading, just as value with a solicitor would be the advice one received from him. It is all relative. If one is pleased with one's reading, then that person wll not mind paying the asking price. Like any other service, a person is free to decline to pay for the medium's services if he/she regards the service to be at fault in some way.

Love,
Patsy.

RE: Should mediums/readers charge a fee?

When my exhaust pipe eventually decays and falls off my car... I have to replace it, I go to the garage and a friendly man fixes the problem, I pay him both for the part and for his time in fitting it. He is happy, I am happy and my neighbours are happy!

I think it is wrong to pay someone for a reading on the thought that 'they are psychic and special' and deserve the money because of this... However I think it only just that I should pay them for their time.

How much I should pay - is an entirely different matter! If they have little experience then their insight may not be so profound as that of someone that has 10 years or more experience with readings. On the other hand - just because someone has been reading for 40 yrs - in my opinion this should not give them the right to charge £50 for an hours reading... It's a matter of relevance and balance. Therefore I look for folk that are (following my own intuitive discernment) genuinely worthwhile to spend time and money with. I haven't had a reading for several years...

I once had a reading with a lady called Kate from somewhere on the south east sussex coast... she was so attuned that she was telling me the names of her cards before she was turning them over on the table in front of me (ie. they were all face down initially)... It was the most extraordinary reading I have ever had; she clearly knew I was buying a flat, getting married and even more convincing - she told me to look at the solicitors bill I'd get for conveyancing fees as there'd be a discrepancy... a month later I looked and she was right... That is how I rate a good reader. Unfortunately I lost contact with Kate and have ever since compared other readers with her level of accuracy; it has never been matched.

A local "clairvoyant" at a fair - is rarely, very rarely likely to be anywhere near as good as Kate - so I shy from paying their requests and walk away.

Sol.
