I thought it would be fun to explore those numbers we keep seeing, along with what an expert has to say about it. Doreen Virtue tells us that
Number Sequences can be seen as messages From The Angels

Quote from D.V :~

The angels do their best to get our attention and to communicate with
us. In this way, they help us heal our own lives. However, we often
discount the signs they give us, writing them off as mere coincidences
or our imagination.

The angels say: “We can’t write our messages to
you in the sky. You’ve got to pay attention and believe when you see
any patterns forming in your life — especially in response to any
questions or prayers you’ve posed. When you hear the same song
repeatedly or see the same number sequence, who do you think is
behind this? Your angels, of course!”

Number Sequences
Your angels often communicate messages to you by showing you sequences
of numbers. They do this in two ways. First, they subtly whisper in
your ear so you’ll look up in time to notice the clock’s time or a
phone number on a billboard. The angels hope you’ll be aware that
you’re seeing this same number sequence repeatedly. For instance, you
may frequently see the number sequence 111, and it seems every time
you look at a clock the time reads 1:11 or 11:11.

The second way in which angels show you meaningful number sequences is
by physically arranging for, say, a car to drive in front of you that
has a specific license plate number they want you to see. Those who
are aware of this phenomenon become adept at reading the meaning of
various license plates. In this way, the angels will actually give you
detailed messages.
Here are the basic meanings of various number sequences. However, your
own angels will tell you if your situation holds a different meaning
for you. Ask your angels, “What are you trying to tell me?” and
they’ll happily give you additional information to help decode their
numeric meanings.

111

Monitor your thoughts carefully, and be sure to only think about
what you want, not what you don’t want. This sequence is a sign that
there is a gate of opportunity opening up, and your thoughts are
manifesting into form at record speeds. The 111 is like the bright
light of a flash bulb. It means the universe has just taken a snapshot
of your thoughts and is manifesting them into form. Are you pleased with what thoughts the universe has captured? If not, correct your thoughts (ask your angels to help you with this if you have difficulty controlling or monitoring your thoughts).

I would be really interested to see how many of us notice 111 or 11.11 etc today,/ this week and how D.V.'s remarks make sense to us.

I will post on other number sequences , possibly daily, or at least weekly...
and do post on your 11 /111/ 11.11 stories

Hmmm ... I have a few reservations here.
I read a lot about psychology & neuro-pathology, and hear a little warning bell. Isn't this sort of mental patterning 'schizophreniform' at the very least? Couldn't it turn sour, so that supportive, encouraging 'messages' from angels become persecuting admonishments from 'demons' or 'evil spirits'?

Many psychiatrists would say that the early signs of mental illness are often imagining similar things - eg. that newsreaders are addressing one personally, through encoded messages, etc. A wonderful teacher when I was v young used to warn us away from these types of imaginings; fearing that too much personalisation & 'magical thinking' in everyday life could turn from conscious, positive inspiration & comfort (which is great!) to mentally unhealthy fears of being watched & monitored & admonished ... which can be the start of destructive schizophrenic disorders ...

Angels are all very nice - but that very mindset can engender fears of 'demons' / 'devils' / enemies etc and possible paranoia. (I mean the habit of seeing 'special messages' everywhere and turning one's focus further & further away from consensus reality.)

Remember the wonderful film "Shine"?

I often wonder about this, and would welcome others' ideas on how valid this warning is, please.

That is lovely Tigress - in this day and age a lot of us don't have the time. We need to make time though and look out for these signs. Very interesting.

I know what you mean, and I too had the same negative programming in childhood. If you read these messages in a positive spirit, and if you ask that nothing negative enters you, with protection from the Angels/the Universe/Reiki, then nothing negative will enter you.

My opinion now is that "there are more things in heaven and earth than man has ever dreamed of"! Also, "the universe is not only stranger than we imagine, it is stranger than we can imagine". What we perceive as reality - what you describe as "consensus reality" - is just our perceptions of reality. Science is proving that we create our own reality, whether it's how our minds work or how other people react to you.

Can you pick up radio waves? You, as a person? No? Does that mean they don't exist? So what makes that tin box in the corner of the room produce those sounds? No doubt in former times that would be ascribed to magic, but we now know different. Arthur C Clarke once said "any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic".

I've worked with adults with paranoia, schizophrenia, and while some of them are truly damaged, others are possibly more normal than me: the only difference seemed to be that at some stage they told someone they shouldn't that they heard voices!

I don't wish to dispute that evil exists, and obviously where the "voices" are negative or encourage evil deeds, then they are not to be listened to. We must not let this blind ourselves to the possibility that there are other beings who wish to communicate with us. That's as stupid as denying the existence of stuff we can't see like radio waves.

Just my opinion of course, but I am wearing a piece of Merlinite!

Thank you so much, Chris.
I totally agree about 'consensus reality' being just that: the generally accepted, prevailing worldview. And that: "there are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy" [Hamlet].

Arthur C Clarke rocks too!

It is certainly a matter of having been conditioned / programmed in childhood into compliance with an accepted norm. Anything outside that norm is seen as pathological or evil or dangerous - because it cannot be easily integrated into the mainstream & controlled. This makes many people uneasy & afraid. And I stand with a foot in each camp, as it were.

There is definitely far more to the universe than we can grasp & express rationally, and examine scientifically in order to fit into some rigid, overarching, controllable 'laws'. I am open to the one-offs, the 'miracles', the importance of subjectvity besides objectivity - because it deals with the actual LIVED qualities of human experience and feeling.
But part of me is wary of delusions and schizophreia taking hold, because 2 close friends of mine & several aquaintances succumbed to slowly-increasing paranoia which blighted their lives and those of their families terribly. In the past, this would have been attributed to 'evil spirits' / 'curses' etc, but now is called a mental illness - paranoid schizophrenia. I love my ill friends and wish them well, but am v sensitised to noticing signs of it starting ...

Thanks again for your understanding of my main problem with Doreen Virtue, Chris.
I sincerely hope my fears that she thrives on & encourages insecure & unstable people's mental weaknesses in an exploitative way are unfounded and merely a product of my over-cautious nature.
Hope I'm not sounding paranoid myself there!

Angels. Announcers from God / Goddess / Heaven / The Divine Source. Wonderful!
Blessings of discrimination, good sense & Divine Inspiration to us all! x

11:11 is a great number for me. My firstborn son was born at that time and because it is a number I see very often it gives me extra little reminders of him. He is in the British Army and stationed in Paderborn, Germany and off to Iraq in November so every time I see 11:11 I smile and send him Love through the ethers.

Here he is 🙂 *feathers fluffing up*:

My home has many spiritual images which I feel raises it's vibration and naturally helps to remind me of higher purposes/beings etc., all day long. I know some people believe that 111 or 11:11 has a significant meaning with the angels and some don't. But for me, as said above, it is a very special number and is associated in my Heart with Love.

Following on from my earlier post:

Talking to oneself and hearing voices is a key part of cognitive behavioural therapy, where the aim is to identify negative self-talk and to replace it with positive affirmations. So there is an accepted part of modern psychology which accepts that we all have voices in our heads, and that we can challenge them and change them.

Oh yes, I am very proud and overflowing with a mother's Love for her child!

It is funny because I had never heard of any significance to 11:11 till chatting with a couple of girlfriends here on HP last year.

11:11 is a very prominent number for me, I see it all the time and I always said to myself “A special number,” because that is when my son was born. And on hearing that some people said it is indeed a special number regarding angels, as a Mum, that makes it extra special. Especially as it was suggested to me he is protected by the angels, and considering his career choice that is a nice thought to hold, whether it be factual or not. In fact there is a wonderful story about Archangel Michael appearing to and protecting a soldier in the Korean war. My son is a natural born protector, a very loving and giving person, a total pain in the a*** at times too, mind:rolleyes:. But having these numbers associated with him gladdens my Heart and gives me a sense of peace, enhanced by me learning a lot about Archangels and their legions in recent months.

I certainly believe in angels, and I also believe that they guide us. For example, their proximity can help raise our own mood, and we aren't aware of what did it, or they can subtly guide the direction of our thoughts if we are open to it. There's little danger here of going schizo (going on to imagine things that aren't happening, and voices) because most of us are dense enough to accept these promptings as being our own thoughts, originated by ourselves. In a way they are, as we had to be open to such thoughts in the first place. And there's a certain real mental healthiness IMHO about not looking all the time for signs and signals from 'others' or the 'beyond'.

I don't have much respect for Virtue as she's extremely derivative from previous authorities, without giving credit to them. She takes earlier work and plagiarises it as though it were her own, but mixing her own errors into the earlier truths IMHO.

So I really think starshower has a point - not so much about the other side of things, and starting to look for signs of evil, but simply that while I do believe in angels, I disagree with Virtue that they work that way usually. What the heck good does it do us to see a number repeatedly? Where would there be a truly useful message in that? She's got it wrong, I feel. Angels have got better things to be getting on with. The point starshower makes which resonates with me, is that I've seen far too many psychics or New Agers who 'see signs' in everything, and it all gets a bit silly and frankly irrational. I've known people personally who got very irrational in this way, and it wasn't happy viewing.

You can pick any number, colour, word, animal & etc that you like, and once you've chosen it, you'll find that you notice it more often rather than blanking it out with other random numbers we see, etc. So the normal is imagined to be magical, and IMHO irrational belief results. Sorry! :hidesbehindsofa:

Blar, blar, blar, V

I really don't care about 'actuals' in this subject. Haven't got a clue who Virtue is and not really bothered. The point is 11:11 is a number that is special to me because I gave birth to my son at that exact time and apparently it is a special number to a lot of other people too, which is lovely, for me as a mum.

So when my son is in a war zone prepared to put himself in harms way to defend others and if I see 11:11 it will give me an extra little time of thought to him.

So slap me silly and call me irrational, if you like, could be fun:p. But it is a number of comfort to me in the same way that we all hold certain numbers of importance. And the fact that it was suggested to me that it is a special number in the Angelic kingdom is a nice thought and gives me comfort and peace too.

So big wet raspberries to the non-believers out there and with fingers firmly stuck in ears *lalalalalalalalalala*.:p :1kis:

I believe that venetian is referring to Doreen Virtue here, about whom he has written in previous posts.

I'm sure a search on HP forums would find them.

On 11:11 there are certainly many true believers out there, and here's just one (old) message board found through Google, in support.

I'll keep an eye out. 🙂 In fact, here's my very first random look at digital time since I read the thread. Here we go. 9.41.39. (Will have to go figure the message in that ... :))

Different topic: There was also in the 1990s an hilariously wacky cultish type group called 11:11, which was quite different, but darned if a quick search can find them now. A group of friends and I were travelling around the country in 1991, and this group's 11:11 posters were up in a number of British towns. I have to say we fell about laughing, as the wording was so dense with New Age gobbledegook that we couldn't even make out what it was trying to say! :p

Edit to add: Ah! What we fell about laughing at was related to all this, sorry! Browsing the link above, I just came across someone saying, "I participated in an 11:11 event on Jan 11 1991 at 11;11 am it was great it took place on a world wide level". That'll be it, then, but the posters were as if written by someone overdosed on acid. :p

You don't know the half of it. There was something I needed to do on August 29, looked at my watch, and it said it was the 1st of a month! Yep, I'm sure many will see infinite significance in that - new beginnings, etc. 🙂 Truth is, I messed it up while flying and changing the time while crossing zones. 🙂

I would be really interested to see how many of us notice 111 or 11.11 etc today,/ this week and how D.V.'s remarks make sense to us.

Strangely enough I've just phoned my credit card company and their number has a series of three 1s. Then I came on here and read this !!

Also talking about car registration plates - I had a car in front of me the other day which had letters which did mean something to me. I then saw it again a day later - even though i'd never seen it before. Strange .

Co-incidently - after making my last post on this thread a few hours ago - I drove to the re-cyling area (which is fairly quiet - i.e. in a residential area with not many cars) and saw another car (a school of motoring) which I noticed because she was driving slowly. This car had the same unusual letters on it's number plate as the car I'd seen a few days previously !! These letters do mean something - so - very odd :FIFangel:.

On car registration plates, and hopefully not too far off topic ...

Some years ago I had a car with the number 866 in the registration. It was stolen and returned by the police six weeks later in such a vandalised state I proceeded with the purchase of a replacement, a few years younger, which had 966 in the registration plate. I fell about laughing when I first visited the garage to view it, and while waiting for the insurance company to stump up.

Eventually this one was traded in ... same dealership ... for one with 332 in the registration. 966 had had 3332 as code for the radio!

Not sure what the message was ... ongoing continuity in my life perhaps?

So the angels must have been watching over the end of the first world war

On the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month 1918 marked the end of the hostilities of the WW1, and is remembered each year to the nearest Sunday as Remembrance Day.

I always notice 11s. On my car recently, I hadn't reset the milage counter for ages. When i pulled into the garage and stopped the car, the milage read 111111 I even took a picture of it with my mobile coz it was so spooky (sorry can't find it now to post) but how strange is that!

My sister's birthday is 11/11 so does this mean she has angels watching over her more than most???
