I started my periods when I was 16, I am now 25, and I have never had a regular period. I'm 5ft5 and 8 1/2 stone, and do regular exercise, I don't smoke and occasionally drink. I started to take dianette because I had terrible acne, and of course this made my periods become regular and skin clear. However, I had to come off that eventually as my doctor said it has side effects such as liver problems, so I am now taking Microgynon, which regulates my periods but doesn't help my skin much. If I stop taking the pill then I get a hell of a lot of spots on my face, chest and back and also stop getting regular periods.
Does anyone know what I could do to get regular periods without taking the pill?
Does anyone know what I could use to stop my skin getting greasy with red spots?
Much appreciated
laura
All these symptoms could be related to the breast pain that you describe on another thread - when you are seeing your GP about the latter, ask about the former!
Basically you have 4/5 avenues for elimination depending on male or female; 1st is your bowels, 2nd is urination; 3rd is lungs (mucus and CO²); and the 4th is your skin, and by the way for women the 5th is our menstrual cycle. If your body is not eliminating properly then 99% it shows up in the skin. My guess is that your periods and your skin issue are symptomatic of other issues. We have a tendency to try to address the symptoms first. I would dig deeper. Hope you find this helpful
Irregular periods
Hi Laura,
I agree that the irregular periods and breast pain could be linked. Yet another link, the biggest cause of acne is zinc defieciency and quess what, you need zinc to maintain hormones for menstrual cycle. In fact, zinc is essential to 300 enzyme reactions in the body, absolutely vital; and zinc is becoming very deficient in our food because the soil is deficient due to modern farming practice. One of those enzymes that uses zinc is the conversion of dietary omega 3 into the form that the body uses. Your Dr may be able to help you here but many don't know about nutrients and what they do. You need somebody who works with nutrients and health.
Hope that helps Sue, get in touch once i'm PM'able if you want more info
I like the idea of zinc supplements. It can't hurt you in small doses.
If that doesn't work, your doctor should check your hormone levels with blood tests. You might have too much testosterone, or perhaps doing something as simple as using natural progesterone gel could balance your hormones. You might need to see an endocrinologist.
Really found yours about Zinc interesting. Thanks. Will try it as soon as I can get some.
