Hi ladies its fluffy. i got my merina coiled removed on Monday 2nd Mar 09 i was very apprehensive as it was agony getting in, but thankfully it was no worse than a smear. my doctor was very interested in my side effects and at the moment i have a large cyst on my breast, it has been there from after xmas and has been slowly getting bigger. she said that this is also a side effect of the merina, you can get my there under your arms and in your groin area. i bleed inmediately after having the coil removed it have been constant but not overly heavy. i do have cramping but nothing out of the ordinary. i have lost 2lb in three days i have not ate any different pre merina i ate healthy on 1400 calories per day from xmas and did not lose any weight i actually gained a couple of pounds. it may only be fluid but im so glad the scales are going down instead of up. if anyone needs any questions or fears answered i will do my best to help. take care fluffy:p

Mirena

Hi Karen,
I had Mirena fitted June 2008 for heavy periods which were really getting me down. It didn't hurt when it was inserted, just uncomfortable with period like cramps which went when the nurse had finished. Some women suffered with severe pain in the days following insertion but I didn't, just luck of the draw.
It's been ten months now and I have had side efffects which I didn't relate to the coil till I did some research. Painful bumps on my face and back which I never had before. Sore breasts which disappeared after six months. Constant spotting ( which should have gone after 3/6 months) but is still there. Bleeding after sex. Weight gain which I find distressing as I work out 3/4 times a week and try to watch what I eat. Bloating and heaviness. I reach for my baggiest jeans most mornings as I know they are the only things I feel comfortable in! I also suffer from strange, sharp pains from my thigh to my calf most nights when I am in bed at night.I am now thinking about having it removed. Hope this helps you, remember women have different reactions so don't be nervous!

Great to read all the posts and realise that i am not alone.. I had my coil fitted after baby number 2.. Its in 3 and a half years now and i have to say it has been terrible after much deliberation i am getting it removed next week, hubby going for vsectomy tomorrow.. he does'nt mind he just wants the real me back.. I suffer low abdominal pain, low back pain, itchy dry scalp, spots, dry patchy skin, tiredness, forgetfulness brain very foggy, anxiety and depression which i have been treated for and am now off all meds still get very down days and last but not least the weight oh my god no matter what i do i put on weight and i go to the gym 3 times a week ( 2 and a half stone since its been inserted, at the begining i never linked any of these symptoms to the coil because my doc said it was the bees knees with no i repeat no side effects.. well she was wrong and i think it is my duty to make other women aware that it might not be right for them, do not wait as long as i did to get rid of it, I think it should come with a health warning, people in USA have started to sue the company, I don't wish to do anything of the sort but if it does'nt suit take it out....:D
I will continue to post once it has been removed,,,,, xoxoxox

Using natural progesterone cream or gel has helped women with heavy bleeding and has no side effects like the synthetic progestin does. I guess most doctors have been brainwashed by the pharmaceutical industry. I did hear that you can buy Progestogel (I think that's the name) over the counter in France, so next time you or a friend go, I'd suggest stocking up. It's great for menopausal symptoms as well. As a natural hormone, it helps balance oestrogen. Oestrogen dominance causes cancer.
