I'm 45 and periods are still relatively normal. This is an ongoing problem that I've always had. At the start of my period I get the usual cramping that's always relieved by painkillers. Towards the end of my period, about 3-5 days from when I first start I get this "dragging" sensation, in the same place as period pain. Sometimes it can be one side or the other and comes in waves. Occasionally it can be intense and I have to lie down. I take painkillers, but usually within an hour it's gone! I get it most months and some worse than others, occasionally no ache at all.
It's more annoying than anything and I just wondered what it could be and if anyone else suffers with it?? I don't want to bother my Doctor with it. I was trying to "Google" it but coming up with all sorts of conditions that it can't really be as it's never that consistent.
Dysmenorrhoea (period pains) are often caused by low magnesium levels. Information can be found for example - but google dysmenorrhoea and magnesium and you get lots of hit.
Sadly the medical profession have no concept of this.

I am pretty sure it's not Dysmenorrhoea. Surely that's really painful? This is bearable, just annoying. I will check your links anyway thank you 🙂

"Dysmenorrhoea" is a term that covers all from discomfort to severe pain associated with menstruation.
