Both hubby + I seem to have itchy skin. Not all the time, and he seems to be complaining about it worse than me (men:rolleyes:) He wonders if he might be putting on a bit of weight and his skin is stretching. I am not putting on weight so I am not sure what my problem is with the itchy skin.
We have not changed our washing powder, there's no rash or spots, just annoying itches every now and then in random parts of our bodies. Sometimes medicated talc helps, or calamine lotion.
Just wondered what might be the cause?
Do you have new furniture/carpets? The dressings in these can often spark allergies (tho seems odd you both having itches). Pets? We had a little outbreak of fleas during the milder weather this winter - all dealt with now, I hasten to add!
No idea what may be causing your itchy problems - you may have to be a detective over this.
Two things that might be helpful are vitamin C - 2-300mg in divided doses throughout the day. It delays the release of histamine which causes the itchiness in an allergic reaction. The other is fish oils - unless you are eating oily fish 3 times a week already. The essential omega-3 oil is needed by the skin and every cell in your body and too many of us are seriously deficient in it. 3 x 1000mg capsules daily can make a big difference. This protocol should be kept up for at least a couple of weeks and see if it makes a difference - if it does then you know the answer!
It may be worth having a long hard honest look at your diet. Most people these days eat tons of sugar, often without even really thinking about it. Always look at the label and try cutting out or greatly reducing your intake of refined sugar - not just in cakes & biscuits but most processed foods contain sugar (even savoury ones), and fruit sugars too e.g; fructose, glucose etc, and don't forget fermented sugars in alcohol.
I'm a reflexologist and I find that unexplained itching very often goes with an imbalance in the pancreas reflex. I get a sense that too much sugar in the blood creates a kind of internal 'heat' which causes itching in some people. Not a very clinical explanation I know but that's just how it feels!

You should use good skin care cream and moisturize .It will give you much relief. If you don’t get relief then you should go to skin specialist.
