Hi Paula
The first thing that comes to my mind with spots is a lack of zinc - it is essential to skin health and used up during pregnancies, and in short supply in UK foods. So I'd get some combined with vit C - supermarkets and chemists have a tablet form of 1000mg vit C drink with 15mg zinc that makes into a drink - I'd take two a day, morning and evening. White marks on the fingernails are usually indicative of low zinc status.
The other thing that happens in pregnancy is that the foetus takes from the mother the omega oils necessary for the formation of the brain cells. If you ate no oily fish or nuts and seeds during pregnancy then this may be the cause, especially if you have dry skin too. Taking fish oil or flaxseed oil daily will help in this case - I'm sure I suffered from this after my 3rd pregnancy - and you need to take the equivalent of a couple of teaspoons daily for a month or two before any benefit is seen. Omega oils have to be consumed as the body cannot make them. They are necessary for the function of every cell membrane in the body and make up a sizeable proportion of the brain - so we need them! - hence they are called 'Essential oils'
Always check with your doctor before taking supplements if you are on any medications or having medical treatments. There are other possible causes, but these two spring to mind immediately.
Do you think it would still be from the pregnancy with him being 19 months old now Caroline? I will check in Boots tomorrow for the things you've suggested. I'm happy to try anything atm lol

I would also look into supplementing with evening primrose oil, it's good for balancing hormones and a great skin supplement.
Topically i'd also try using jojoba oil as a moisturiser, it's great for acne without being harsh like many over the counter products tend to be. Also, be careful how you cleanse, harsh cleansers can just aggrivate the problem.
I used to suffer with acne, used clearasil etc and it just made it worse. Swapping to a gentle cleanser (desert essence thoroughly clean face wash) and good quality oils (jojoba, virgin coconut etc) as moisturisers cleared it up and has kept me spot free for years.
oh thank cloe ill keep an eye out for thast one this afternoon when im shopping
thanks again

Wishing you all the best.
