I have quite red marks around the outside of my nose, and on my cheek area.

It is sore too touch, there is no blemishes, but just firey marks, that stand out, until you cover them with make up, I have tried to correct my diet by eating more fresh fruit, but nothing seems to calm it.

I dislike wearing make up, all the time, as I prefer to have a healthy complexion, that is able to breathe properly without being suffocated by make up.

Any suggestions on what I could do to help?, soothe and reduce the redness.( it is only in one patch that I am wanting to help, but do not no where to begin).

RE: red sore facial marks

There is a condition known as SLE (systemic lupus erythematosus) that often presents with a symptom called a 'butterfly rash' (due to its' shape) across the bridge of the nose. SLE is a connective tissue disorder that is more common in females & ususally presents between the ages of 20 - 40.

Don't panic - cos that's just one possibility from the single the symptom you described. Do go and get it checked out by your GP, especially if you have had any other symptoms recently. 😉

RE: red sore facial marks

Hi

I have had similar marks on my face and they can be very hot and uncomfortable at times, especially after sherry!! My dermatologist thought it may be acne rosacea, but I think it is more due to very sensitive skin and has settled down a lot now. I do wear make up mosr of the time to cover it but it can be a nuisance.

Hormone fluctuations can often cause the marks you have, or it could be an allergy to something
Soap or face cream.

How long have you had it. Are you well otherwise. It is unlikely you have lupus unless you have other symptoms, so don't worry too much.

Its a good idea to see your GP. She will be able to put your mind at rest, you could ask for a referral to a dermatologist.

Hope it goes soon.

Hi 😀

Is it like this:

?

Other symptoms of SLE (Lupus) are:

Rash-butterfly rash over the bridge of the nose and cheeks, swollen joints, fever, chest pain, hair loss, pale or purple fingers or toes (cold/stress), depression, unexplained kidney problems.

If you look up 'rash' and 'cheeks' there are lots of diagnostic websites. I used to know a good dermatology one but I'm afraid I've lost the web address [:@]

Some other options here:

Hope it goes away soon,
Petal x

P.S. Are you on any medications that have skin rashes as a side effect?

I would like to add would this mark be caused by me smoking?

I am planning to stop, once my partner stops, which could be very soon.

I wouldn't like to hazard a guess as to what it is, I would suggest you show the DR for his opinion just in case there is something he can do to help you.

Many skin problems are caused by dietary issues, allergies or imbalances or various sorts, when you see something like this it is a sign that all is not well and you need to help your body. Skin disorders can also be a sign of stress.

if you smoke and your diet is not very healthy then these are prhaps the first areas to be addressed, smoking doesn't necessarily cause skin trouble but wont help your body solve the problem.

Have you tried aloe vera, I totally recomend this, Aloe would probably help you if used interally, ie if you drink the juice and use it topically as well.

Aloe Vera works on all epitheleal tissues, your skin, gut lining etc, every where, it aids regeneration and healing of the cells, it also is an adaptogen and is able to assist the body in it's various needs or repair and rejuvination.

FLP products manufacture a aloe drink which is 97% aloe and will help you in so many ways, it contain nutrients for your body, helps to balance bacteria and will only do good.

they also make a gel for the skin, or you could try the propolis cream which contains bee products.

Aloe used topically is good as it is antimflamatory and reduces swelling, it reduces heat and itching to will greatly reduce discomfort. It is antiseptic and will help prevent secondary infection if the skin is broken.

If you apply pure aloe or a strong concentrate it can reach seven skin layers deep, the creams and topical gels provide good relief. however for the aloe to to have a chance to actually solve the problem it is better to take internally, what you consume will affect your skin's ability to grow healthily.

Aloe vera has given a lot of help to allergy sufferers as it boosts the imune system, also it is very good for people with eczema and many differnt skin problems so i reckon it may help you...wotrth a look anyway.

if you do decide to give it a go, one bit of advice, when using drinks etc, bear in mind the life cycle of the skin is 21-28 days, so if the aloe is helping your kin to start growing healthily it might take three to four weeks before you see a big difference, however, topical treatments will help very fast.

Also when choosing a product be careful that you use one with a decent aloe content, there are so many on the market and the quality varies, I recomend Forever Living Products having used them myself.

Good Luck!
