RE: exercise and acne

shouldn't that be good as you're excreting impurities? I'd like to know that too.

RE: exercise and acne

It depends, on what is causing your acne. Loads of women with bad acne have too many androgen (male hormone thingies) receptors in their skin... which is why they have success with the contraceptive pill called Dianette. However... if those women do loads of of exercise (which increases testosterone) then I think that'd make it worse.

In my own experience exercise makes my skin worse. When I stop it calms down. However I have been exercising pretty heavily (cycle 2 hours a day) in the last 4 months and my skin has finally started clearing up. So, I think what happens is that cos your body is heathier (liver, kidneys, digestion all work better, sleep better) it can cope more effectively with whatever was/is causing your acne.

On another note - nutrient deficiencies contribute to acne. An important one is zinc. You have a greater requirement for zinc when you exercise (as you do for most nutrients) so exercising could tax your nutrient requirements even more.

In summary: do exercise, but take a decent multivitamin and extra zinc. My skin is healthier than it has been for 5 years... but I still have problem skin... but it looks healthier.

Good luck.
