Can you get eczema on your lip? Last week I felt a really dry patch with a couple of tiny blisters on my top lip. It went away with use of blistex but now I have a sore (doesn't help that I've bitten it!), tiny red blister on my bottom lip and the skin is very dry. It looks a bit like eczema but doesn't itch. The skin feels taut and very dry. All my skin is dry at the moment, especially on my face. Any ideas anyone?
RE: Eczema on your lip???
I think you can get eczema anywhere.
Are you sure it wasn't a cold sore - they take an age to clear up:-)
RE: Eczema on your lip???
Well i think i've had it on every part of my body since i was a babe, so i'd say yes you can get it anywhere. E45 is really virsatile, and pretty safe for all over useage. Certain things in your life like, diet, stress, clothing fabrics etc can tip the balance and cause irritations on ones skin.
Calm itch free thoughts to you.

Well it has happened again and guess what it was? An allergic reaction to hot chilli sauce!! Last time this happened to me we went to a local restaurant and I had prawns with a chilli dip. I went back on Saturday with friends and I had the same starter. Even as I was eating it I felt my bottom lip start to burn but it wasn't until I mentioned it to my friend that I put two and two together. It has actually blistered and I know that in a couple of days the skin will go dry and peel off just as it did last time. No more chilli sauce for me! The only thing keeping me sane is the lovely lip balm dear Tigerbee sent me last time, bless you my friend.

Yes you can get it anywhere, but it sounds like a cold sore.
The top corner of my lip started to tingle and itch on Saturday night, unfortunately for me, i was on my daughters farm baby sitting for the weekend.
Without a 4x4 it's not possible to get to the shops/chemist, so it ended up blisttering.
The problem with lips they are always damp, and in the corner of the mouth, once you eat or laugth etc, it just splits.
I sympathise with you, i also feel that everyone is staring at me all the time.

Get some lemongrass oil. I have read extensive info about its effect on the HSV2 virus. In a german study they gave peolpe blistex, and the other group lemongrass over a ten year period. Lemongrass inhibits the virus, and stops it from infecting the layers of tissue. as a result it stops the cold sore coming out, and it doesnt allow it to get to the blister stage. Blistex, takes 7-10 days. The lemongrass study, has it all cleared up from start to finish in 5. The study also stated that over the period, the people that were treated with lemongrass, had less frequent attacks. The main cause of cold sores was identified as the ratio between lysine, and arginine. If arginine dominates, then cold sores result. The main source or arginie rich foods, is peanuts. Do you eat lots of them??? hope this has been helpful. and if its the last thing you do, go get some. Blistex doesnt even come close. I have had 4 people who now swear by it.

OUCH! [:@]
Sounds like it could be either. Your chilli habit or the type of herpes virus that often results in a cold sore.
Truth is most of us carry around various viruses that most of the time our immune system has them beaten into a dormant state. A classic example is herpes zoster that is the chicken pox virus, that lies dormant next to one of the spinal nerve roots. Then when we're a bit run down, stressed or whatever - wham - it pops up again as schingles that tracks along the course of the nerve pathway. Especially nasty if it's one that covers the face. [:o]
If it's only a minor & infrequent problem that's easily avoided, then you may be content to just treating the symptoms with creams or whatever.
If you want to get closer to the bottom of the matter, then you might be looking at a detox, homeopathy, 5 Element acupuncture or my own preference for anything immune related is NAET (link below). [:-]
It may be of interest to know that in Traditional Chinese Medical Acupuncture - anything to do with the skin is usually related to the large intestine (colon) & lung meridians. Or more specifically the mouth, then it could be a problem with the spleen or stomach meridians. 😮
Whatever the preferred approach - the body is the physical expression of what goes on beneath, so as tempting as it might be - I wouldn't ignore it. 😉
RE: Eczema on your lip???
Thanks for your replies. It was definitely not a cold sore, but more like an actual burn. I'm fine with a little chilli added to food eg veggie chilli but in a food where the chilli content is more concentrated and there are seeds too, as was the case with this dip, I'm clearly asking for trouble. Chilli can be an incredibly abrasive food, causing topical burning reactions in some people (have you ever chopped up chillis, washed your hands thoroughly, yet rubbed your eyes and they've stung like mad?).
