Although I know I don't perhaps drink as much as I should :o, I still think my overly dry skin is due to more than low water irrigation...so...a question to our nutritionists perhaps...

How much good oils i.e. the omega, should a person be taking in on a daily basis? I have had the 3.6.9 Udo blend, and have them in a yogurt now and again, although i suppose a regular daily dose would be much better...when I can remember :o.

Any recommendations...feel like I have a snakeskin at the moment, along my arms, legs, and constant itchy back. Or do have to contend with all this, as menopausal symptoms...:D

A typical high dose from a good quality essential fatty acid oil is 1000 mg, but I don't know how much this particular blend provides. As you have already realised, I think it is more key that you take the oil regularly!

To help with menopausal symptoms like these you could also try to boost your dietary phyto-oestrogen levels by increasing intake of things like flaxseed (linseed). You can also increase your intake of useful oils by regularly eating nuts and seeds. Limiting your intake of alcohol, tea and coffee will also prevent extra fluid loss.

I also have overly dry skin especially after shower. I was told its due to high salts content or calcium in the water? hot showers...

im using virgin coco oil on my body now..instead of lotion...

I need to know why my skin is so dry...

Hi Brian

It seems unlikely your itchy skin is menopausal - Lol!

Two things that really help the dryness and the itchiness are a) olive oil baths - a capful of extra virgin olive oil in the bath (I generally put in some bubbles, too, so the bath isn't hard to clean afterwards!) and/or b) an oat bath - particularly good for menopausal skin dry/ichiness. Put about a cupful of ordinary rolled oats into the centre of a j-cloth or equivalent (not the red ones - they run!), tie it up with string (leaving enough room for the oats to expand), leaving a long string tail which you tie into a loop. Hang the loop on the hot tap as its running for the bath. Squeeze gently in the bath (don't burst the bag or you'll get porridge) and run it over skin, paying particular attention to the itchy bits. Works like a charm. Don't know why.

I am also a lady of a certain age 😉 and have noticed that my skin seems drier more recently. I have also had a spate of large cyst type spots on my chin (most attractive!) quite unusual as I never really had teenage acne etc

I have been recommended Omega 7 sea buckthorn oil of which I am on my tenth day of taking and I must say that things are improving. 🙂

For the guys in this thread, something I found that helped my dry skin is Imedeen man-age-ment. Really good course of pills that help with general skin care and anti-ageing. Nice and discreet as well, if you don't want to be seen with face creams in the bathroom etc 😛

I'm sure they do one for women as well!
