Does anyone know of a professional massage course for cancer patients, which would allow you to work as a practitioner within NHS?
Thank you in advance.
Kind regards
Hi,
There is a lady called Gayle Mc Donald who has brought out a book called"Medicine Hands:Massage Therapy for People with Cancer".
She is from America and has years of expierience with this type of work and training. She is coming over next April to Britain to do a course in Newtonmore which is in the North of Scotland to teach Massage Therapy for people with cancer.
If you were able to get a hold of the book she will most likely have a contact address which you can contact her on to ask if she knows of anywhere you may be able to do this type of course or if there are any places left at the Newtonmore Workshop in April.
Hope this is of some help to you.I also had a lot of trouble finding this type of course and recieved an email out of the blue asking if I was interested in attending this course!I am a reiki healer and wanted to gain some more expierience in treating people with cancer.
Good luck.
Yes if you go to they do training courses which are accredited. No connection - just a satisfied customer!
Cancer support for patients and carers
Hi,
I found this recently - had heard about it a while ago via a friend whose mother had cancer in Bristol. These guys are supposed to be excellent:
The programme is led by a GP who has specialised in creating supportive environments and educational resources for people with cancer, from the beginning all the way through. I wish the NHS would support schemes like this.
Cath.
I did my training at the IFA with Jackie Owens and she has an enormous amount of knowledge and sound advice to give if you want to work in the NHS with cancer patients.
Jackie Owens Therapeutic Services - offers courses and training in cancer care. Here's a link:-
