What allergy treatments would you recommend for a skin rash caused by foods?
The skin on my face, especially around my eyes, flares bright red after eating certain foods. I look like I have red panda eyes. I've had kinesiology testing and been told what foods to avoid and I have avoided them for the most part for the last 2 - 3 years. But today I forgot to take my packed lunch to work so had something from the canteen and within an hour my face was bright red and blotchy. It's really noticeable. After the flare, the skin flakes away and is really painful and unsightly for several days afterwards. It's my hen do on Friday and I'm upset that I will look rubbish in the photos that I will keep forever. It makes me so miserable. I'm fed up of eating food out of tupperware and being awkward when going round to friends or out to eat.
My doctor just told me to avoid wheat but didn't know what else to suggest. I've been trying just to get on with it but it is now starting to affect my confidence and my spirits.
Other than avoiding the known culprits what can I do? I've looked at NAET but haven't found a practitioner near me. I live in Reading.
Has anyone got any ideas about what I can do?
RE: Can't take much more - food causing skin rash
Oh dear Shooting Star, You sound so uncomfortable. I'm afraid I have no other advice other than to say go back to basicqs & keep a record as to what reaction you have after eating ceertain foods. Meantime I would suggest a visit a chemist & speak to the pharmacist or maybe a herbalist might be able to help.
There are a lot of experienced & helpful people on HP maybe some one will come along soon with more ideas
Have you tried the wheat & Gluten free stuff in your super market?

RE: Can't take much more - food causing skin rash
Thanks for your support CM - very much appreciated - sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you have been out and about a lot the last couple of weeks.
I had a miraculous clear up for my hen do - never had my skin clear up that quickly before! I had a great weekend. My skin has flared back up this week - but I have found an allergy specialist that only lives 4 miles from my house. She does Naet and JMT which apparently is a development of NAET as well as several other holistic therapies. I have an appointment with her tomorrow so looking forward to it and hopefully she will be able to help me. Will update what I find out.
RE: Can't take much more - food causing skin rash
All I can say about NAET and JMT is WOW!
I now had 2 sessions which were a mixture of Kinesiology, NAET, JMT and BRT.
2 days after the first 2 hour session, friends and collegues noticed a marked improvement (even people I hadn't told I had any treatment).
After my second 1 hour session, my skin is 95% improved. There are still a few marks across my chest, where the skin needs to heal (from scratching) but the redness, puffiness, itchiness and flakiness around my eyes are so far gone as to be not there.
The lady I went to see is brilliant. The therapy is downright weird. She talks to my body, asks what it wants to do to heal, taps on accupressure points, makes me hold substances for 20 mins. But it is working.
She also suggested I buy Sekebal gel to deal with a previously undiagnosed candida problem.
I know it is early days yet and I have a long healing journey ahead of me. there are still many substances I need to clear, but it is such a relief to find something that is helping. Will keep you posted with updates.

I've heard of NAET although I don't know what it involves and never heard of JMT, but from what you describe (the saying things and tapping on accupressure points) this sounds similar in technique to EFT. (How many acronyms can we come out with eh!)
If you're interested in finding out about EFT visit the main EFT site where you can also download a free manual to learn how to treat yourself. In the meantime, I'm off to find out more about NEAT and JMT.....

RE: Can't take much more - food causing skin rash
Hi Energylz,
I'm actually an EFT practitioner! Thanks for the info though. I know on emofree.com there are some success stories re allergies and believe me i did try EFT on them but without much success unfortunately. I think it was becuase it wasn't just one allergy but a whole host of them and also I was directing the EFT at the wrong substances. lol. I did use EFT on my emotional state about the way I felt about my skin flaring up too (after my first post which is where I just dumped all my frustrated emotions onto the web. Seeing how upset I was in writing was the kick up the bum to actually do something about it, instead of just hoping it would sort itself out).
The tapping bit of JMT and NAET I can deal with probably because I have had so much success dealing with emotional problems with tapping. It was the practitioner asking my body questions and using the yes/no responses it gave that I found strange because it was so unlike anything i have ever had before. However after 2 treatments it is starting to seem very normal so I guess it's what you are used to.
see you on the mind therapies board sometime
shooting star.

RE: Can't take much more - food causing skin rash
hi shooting star, so glad you found a good therapist. she sounds like she uses the same techniques as my kinesiologist who is absolutely amazing. yes, i know it's weird when they ask your body questions but i can give you a weirder one than that. after my daughter was badly smashed up in a car accident H wanted to do a more intense treatment for her than she could have so she used me as a surrogate. there is nothing quite like having someone run a finger very gently along an injury you don't have and screaming with the pain of it! also, when my daughter was recovering she used to hop everywhere (as she couldn't use crutches cos of broken arms) and I had to have treatment for HER displaced hip! somehow I had absorbed her physical problem, the lord knows how.
so stick with, it really works.
RE: Can't take much more - food causing skin rash
Hi Shooting Star - good to here your on the mend.
We do get a few 'quick fixes' with NAET, but if your like most of us then you'll most likely be up and down for a while yet. But if you stick with it then hopefully it should clear the candida too, as it did with me. I gather the gel is a recommendation for the short term.
Yes there are already several 'off shoot' therapies from NAET, but will resist naming them. And the way in which the acupuncture points or nadis are stimulated doesn't seem to make a lot of difference, so long as they are and in the right sequence.
Andrew.
