Hello all [sm=wave.gif],
Just getting to the end of day 21 in my fight agains The Nicodeamon! (which some people do not believe in).
Just felt like shouting from the rooftops.I have never before in my quest of trying to stop smoking passed the 2 week barier and here I am on 3rd week now. I have also been to a couple of parties/lunches and have not succumbed to the cigarette even though people around are smoking. :DI am so pleased - its hard but I feel like this time I can do it!
Rant over. Have a nice day 😀

RE: Cigarettes - 3 weeks and counting
Hi Fafinka & congratulations [sm=1syellow1.gif][sm=1syellow1.gif][sm=1syellow1.gif]
You have three bouncing smileys - one for each week!
Well done you, & hope you areputting by all that ciggy money to buy yourself something special & very well deserved.
I too have been a non-smoker for three weeks - my weeki-versary wasyesterday. Referring to myself as a non-smoker was my partner's suggestion but whenhe first suggested it, I had to look behind me, as I wasn't sure who he was talking to!!! I've smoked for a long, long time, soas well as combating the physical addiction, it's the mindset that goes with it (for me at least).
As you say, this is not easy, but somehow this time (3rd time lucky?) I am more determined. And unlike other attempts, when I really knew I ought not to smoke but didn't in my heart want to stop, this time I really don't want to smoke & am very committed to staying stopped, & it sounds that way for you too.
Keep fighting the good fight, & this time next week it'll be four boucing smileys!!

Hello Claudette,
Well done to you too on your three weeki-versary . I know what you mean about the non-smoker bit. I still think: "take it 1 day at a time" and "I am just not smoking for the moment" (so that my brain is not too overwhelmed). Seems to be helping.
Good luck with your quit and let me know how it's going
xx Fafinka

Hi Fafinka,
Just a quick thought a friend of mine passed on to me:
A cigarette craving lasts about a minute - the damage done by one cigarette lasts the rest of your life
Do some deep breathing and it does pass!!! (I've been 'clean'for 5 months now!!!

Hi Guys, I know how hard it can be to give up. Been there done that, the manual way, just like you, several years ago though now.
If you find you are experiencing any cravings or the like, then consider using something like EFT. It works wonders on cravings/addictions. I've helped several people (mostly people at my work) to stop smoking and it was all done within a lunch hour.
If you need more info about EFT, have a look around the Mind Therapies forum.
Keep it up, you'll get there.
Love and Reiki Hugs

RE: Cigarettes - 3 weeks and counting
Hello [sm=wave.gif]and Happy New Year to you all.
I am actually doing quite well now(knock on wood 3 times).
My computer meter says: 1 month, 1 week, 2 days, 10 hours and counting ANDI saved £221.90 by not smoking the 986 cigarettes and have saved 3 days of my life.
The first 3 weeks really are the most difficult and it really does get easier with time. I had time off between Xmas and New Year and spent it home alone (hubby working) during the day so I was a bit worried about craves. I did plan a lot to do (like gym, lots of reiki and yoga) but ended up watching a lot of TV - oops (in fact i just finished reading the "procrastination" post and must read all the links related...:D) there was just too much Sherlock and miss Marple and Poirot to enjoy. I did go to gym 3 times and did some reiki so its not all bad.
But, the important thing is I did not smoke and the craves are now much lesser and not so frequent.
Great to be free.... Yuppie.
Love
Fafinka

Hi there
I remember you posting on my thread back last year. I hope you're still on the wagon and congratulations on giving it another go. I'm now 7 months free of the awful thing and although it's bee murderous for a lot of it, I'm coming out the other end I believe.
I wish you the best of luck
