Kinda funny really back and forward it goes do you heal this way or that way, what bunch of words do you use to describe it…

Gets old though really.. its about the person that needs your help not you surely. If it was about you and your intentions as a healer then hospitals would be half the size and with a few million healers worldwide the need for drugs and ill health would be greatly diminished.
If any of us were totally healed we would be in Spirit not living as human beings with all that it entails.

Healing is simple to do, it’s interesting to read what Usui is supposed to have said in regard to actual healing, to me its common sense for the most part. Is Reiki a separate energy…I used to think so a very long time ago
If you truly are a healer then it is everything that you are..if you have developed the Spirit within you ( Reiki.. universal life force energy… the force within us that is the whole universe) with time and effort then it will be the dominant force within you and healing will happen in spite of what you think you are supposed to do.

There is no separation ever but your human physical mental and emotional side can take a back seat and actually when that happens to its fullest extent its quite an experience and beyond any perceived knowledge we think we have. But the driver for this experience is the person or people you meet not you personally and what you want to happen. Quite simply you become what the energy is…a means to refresh those people who need assistance in whatever way its needed; weather its touch, words, using your eyes as a focus.. whatever needs to happen will.

A long time ago I used to have a treatment room and a couch and all the other stuff involved..until I realized it was not needed; but then to actually make a living as a healer in the accepted sense does not work for me as an individual so out they went.

If it works just do it, if it dont change it =)

Hi Omega1

Yes we could go round the houses with this one, over and over again, the main point that I have been attempting to make is in relation to someone just receiving an attunement and missing out the first step on the healing journey and expecting to become healed without consciously sorting out the aspect of self which Usui calls spirit and I call consciousness.

Once the first step has been completed and we are experiencing and expressing wholeness, then everything else becomes easy, life becomes easy, healing becomes easy, we become happy, we heal others and make them happy, it is a healing recipe for success.

The point I am trying to make is that for some people the first step is to heal their physical and/or emotional conditions first. People are complex and have different needs from Reiki and for me the real key is for each individual to be intuitive and work in the way that is right for them. For me, my first step was to heal my spine (physically) sufficiently so I could live my life in a healthy and normal way. From there I was able to work on the other aspects of myself that needed healing. There can never be a 'one rule fits all' way for Reiki - which is why Usui-sensei said that Reiki directly treats illnesses and injuries and heals the spirit - all aspects need healing and all aspects can be healed in the way that is right for each individual.

Hi Steve

You are correct, there is no separation, when a healer and a healee comes together in a healing session, then they are one, within the oneness of the healing session changes happen, when the healer finds division and conflict within the oneness of self which incorporates the healee, they address it and heal it within self, there is no us and them in a healing session, healing is applied within the fullness of self to create a change within self, that healing affects both parties who are connected as one within the fullness of self, it is not my desires and their desires as that would create a conflict in place of wholeness, it is the singular desire to become healed into wholeness which creates the changes that manifests in both beings.

Hi Omega1

As Steve says, if your way has healed you and heals those who choose to come to you for healing, then it is not broken and does not require fixing. 🙂

Hi Daz, (don't recognise you lately with a different avatar... nice change though 🙂 )

Leaving Paul and Andy to discuss their angle for a moment, and just coming to your question for me...

Let me see if I can word this...

An individual doesn't impart power into any thing, whether it's symbolic, physical or whatever. However when a thing enters one's perception the connection of the energy between the two becomes one (it was always one anyway, but the perception energy puts awareness on it). If the perception of the person is that the symbol, sound or whatever has some sort of 'power' (using the term loosely) then that 'power' is manifested within the awareness, thus influencing the energy that comes from the presence (if that's the right word to use) of the person and the thing together.

I guess it's like saying that the thing itself has energy, but in itself does not have the 'power', and the person themselves has energy, but in themselves do not perceive this particular power, but when the two come together into awareness, a 'power' is created by the change of energy that is manifested through perception.

Therefore, in laymans terms, we could say that any thing can posess 'power', when the perception of the beholder manifests the power 'of' it; and this is then perceived to be a power 'within' it.

Does that makes sense?

All Love and Reiki Hugs

Hi Giles

It was an nice and well put together piece ..

I think what your trying to say is that one needs to become aware of something else in order to relate to what that something else possesses energetically speaking . Unless one never interacts with another energy source then one cannot identity or resonate with it's properties .

I could be way off base in regards to your meaning however but lets take the sun for example .. Over the years I have opened up to another level in respect to how the suns rays effect my energy levels . I feel empowered when I connect with the sun, similar to how solar panels store the suns rays I feel on a cellular level that I am being energized .

Using your perspective as an example are you then saying that the sun does not posses power within it's own being unless there is someone that interacts with the sun in order to become aware of it's energy source ...

Depends upon what you mean by "power" exactly Daz.

Of course the Sun has "power" because it has energy... and energy is "power" in a certain context (solar power 😀 )

Does the sun have power that effects us... that's is what depends on our perspective. You could say the suns rays can sunburn us... but does that is a physical change in the energy interaction between us... but does it really effect who is the "I" in us?

Perception is a very important factor. There was a programme on tv a while back where they were talking about the senses, particularly the sense of sigh and colour. They visited a tribe in some country somewhere and presented them with a colour wheel of blocks of green, and one of the blocks was a different shade (that's what it looks like to us). They then asked the tribal member to pick out the one that was different... but he couldn't see it. To him, all the colours looked the same, because from his perception they were... as their tribal history had no differentiation between them and they had always been the same thing. Even when it was shown to him, he still couldn't see a difference.

So, to us, there is an energetic difference between the two things, but to this tribal member there was no difference. The difference and effect that some thing has on us is all down to our own perception, not to the thing itself... as that thing is just being that thing.

Hi Giles . Thanks for the response .

I can see that using the word power complicates things so perhaps we can use the word energy . The question at hand that I put out there so to speak was referring to symbols and do they have there own energy/power source within their own geometric structure . Lets not forget that the sun is a sphere geometrically speaking just as everything that exists on a cellular level is a sphere that contains a geometric pattern of life .

Does the sun have power that effects us... that's is what depends on our perspective. You could say the suns rays can sunburn us... but does that is a physical change in the energy interaction between us... but does it really effect who is the "I" in us?

Well yes I agree and in the end like many threads pan out it’s about what we are that is ‘I’ that anything can effect or relate to . Perhaps in this instance we could relate what we are that is of the mind body and how anything can effect and relate to aspects of one’s mind body .

In regards to the thread and reiki symbols having their own energy source how do the symbols play apart within healing/empowering our mind body / energy fields, our state of mind, our state of wellbeing for example .

I like to bring forth our d.n.a. coding into the mix and how our d.n.a. coding responds to geometric patterns .

Perception is a very important factor. There was a programme on tv a while back where they were talking about the senses, particularly the sense of sigh and colour. Yes I agree perception is a key factor .. In some respect one’s perception can acknowledge individual essence and also sameness . The bigger picture can entertain that all is one and all is sameness, so energetically speaking on some level the suns rays are the same source of energy as the quartz crystal or the oak tree etc, but on one level each energy signature holds a unique vibration / geometric pattern .

If everyone/thing vibrated the same there would only be the same one .

In some shape or form many can perceive light / colour / shape / sound to some extent I suppose from that perspective what does that light / colour / sound / shape do for you / anyone . If the frequency of sound differed and the colours vibration changed and the geometric patterns transformed / mutated etc, how will each of those combinations have an effect on you / anyone ..

Is it down to what one wants to make of it or is it down to the unique energy patterns of everything that is in some way effecting you .. If it is the latter then something 'other' than the point of observation / observer is containing a unique source of energy .

Mrs Takata said that Usui-sensei saw the symbols at the end of his fast on Mt Kurama as part of his satori or enlightenment. Other stories are that the symbols already existed and Usui-sensei was aware of them before they came to him in his enlightenment.

Thanks for adding Omega .

Perhaps similar to how I became aware of certain symbols . The question is where have they came from . Transferred from another time or place or from another being whether it be in individual or universal / collective form or perhaps the symbols have intelligence, enough intelligence to project? or at a certain point within an individuals evolution draw out a sequence of geometric patterns from within .. Very interesting ..

Unfortunately you are talking about two different things, we posses the power to heal, the sun possesses the energy to radiate light and heat, they are not the same thing.

The Reiki symbols are not what you think they are, when seen by someone who understands them in their original form, then they are simply words or they were in days gone by, the language that they originated from, has changed much as our own has.

Let me give you an example, if I took the word kitkat and empowered it to be used by the people who are attuned to the empowerment that I had empowered the word with, then they would think of the word kitkat and whatever it had been empowered with, will activate and start to manifest, you notice that I did not say it will energise, for the empowerment is not energy, it is power.

To everyone else who thought of the word kitkat, they would be thinking of a chocolate covered biscuit and there would be no power in the word kitkat, it is the same with what we perceive as the Reiki symbols, but to someone who understands that style of writing, then they are either words that have there own meaning, or they are attuned to the power of intent that empowers the words.

In regards to the thread and reiki symbols having their own energy source how do the symbols play apart within healing/empowering our mind body / energy fields, our state of mind, our state of wellbeing for example .

As I said above the symbols do not have any energy source, they are empowered with nothing more than the power of intention, it is the person who is attuned to the symbols who has the potential to create the power to create healing, the symbols can do nothing on their own or with someone who is not attuned to them. 🙂

Hi Paul .

So what is of this light and heat that you speak of Paul . Just light? Just heat? It could be debated that the sun has many conscious aspects and if one relates to only its physical nature then that is what one will be only be aware of . The sun as an element that is of fire has many properties . It could be debated also that without sunlight exposure our bodies would not produce enough vitamin D, an aspect of healing if one is deficient of vitamin D in its self . The sunlight also boosts our production of melatonin and serotonin when gazed upon and the pineal gland is stimulated as a result of . These are just a few physical examples how the physical aspects of the sun integrate with the mind body . The properties of the suns rays are there prior to the integration otherwise when integrated no-thing would happen or become effected . Many have made a connection with meditating whilst seated within a pyramid structure for energy enhancement and individuals have concluded like dr emoto regarding water consciousness and the effects that sound and energy has on it’s geometric structure .

I think it would be fair to say that sound, water, shapes/symbols, the sun etc all contain there own energy signature and where there is energy there is a source of power . How that energy source integrates with each individual will depend on the energy signature of the individual .

The Reiki symbols are not what you think they are, when seen by someone who understands them in their original form, then they are simply words or they were in days gone by, the language that they originated from, has changed much as our own has.

I have no Idea what any of the reiki symbols mean or look like for I have never seen them, unless they were similar to one’s that I have seen . One symbol that I have seen that is similar to a triangle but at one corner the right angles do not meet is very much connected with d.n.a. I have a fair idea / understanding that symbols are relevant for something . D.n.a in any language is understood . What one understands that is of our d.n.a. is where differences lie . I have a basic understanding regarding light / sound / frequency / vibration and the effects that such has upon our d.n.a. coding . The symbol that I saw holds the key to uncoding d.n.a, so it is a key of sorts, it now depends on one’s individual perception as to whether the key holds any energy or not and in some respect one’s perception is irrelevant . If the geometric key holds energy it will hold energy, if the key does not then it will not despite what one may think .

I understand the power of intention put forward or introduced into anything be a false God or the boogie man but these such things are perhaps of the individuals imagination . Does the boogie man or a kitkat decode your d.n.a. .. Does the properties of water ignite a flame ... No matter how hard one introduces the water element to being the fire God of planet neptune .. there will never be a fire ignited ..

Hi Daz

The sun radiates heat and light, it can as you say help the body to create vitamin D, it can also burn us, or if it gave out enough heat it could incinerate the whole planet, but it is unaware of all these things, it does not know its purpose, it just fulfils it role.

The sun creates vast amounts of energy, you cannot reproduce that energy by drawing a symbol of the sun on a piece of paper, irrespective of how you choose to perceive it, it will just remain a symbol on a piece of paper.

A key cannot turn or unlock anything without someone to use it, a tool is nothing until someone chooses to utilise it, but even then its usefulness will depend upon the perceptions, skills and understanding of the person utilising it. 🙂

Hi Jane,

Power is the rate at which energy is transmitted - energy is measured in joules, power in joules per second. I know that scientific comments aren't always welcome on HP but, if you're using a different (i.e. your own) definition, it would help me to follow your discussion if you would explain this. Thanks.

Of course, scientifically, power is those things (and I have no problem with you talking science on HP myself), however in the context Daz was asking as to whether symbols have power, it's perhaps better expanded to be "Do symbols have power over a person?" as in an influential power (not something we'd typically go around measuring in joules/s) so maybe even better would be "Do symbols have an influence (on a person)?"

Hi Daz,

I can see that using the word power complicates things so perhaps we can use the word energy. The question at hand that I put out there so to speak was referring to symbols and do they have there own energy/power source within their own geometric structure . Lets not forget that the sun is a sphere geometrically speaking just as everything that exists on a cellular level is a sphere that contains a geometric pattern of life .

This is interesting, because you are perceiving a symbol's geometric structure to be an integral part of it's influential energy. Again, that's something that's down to individual perception. With "geometric", we're typically talking mathematically based structures and shapes, and not all symbols follow such geometry, as some, certainly in the Reiki symbols, are based around the Japanese kanji, so the calligraphic strokes of the individual components of the kanji are considered important, but not necessarily the geometricity of them. As for whether everything really is a sphere, that's what science would lead us to believe, but then ask yourself... why is the solar system not made of planets orbiting in all directions of a sphere, why are they (generally) falling into a plane? Yes, a sphere is considered to be the shape that nature takes for the shape of least energy (as science puts it), such as when we look at bubbles, but get down to quantum levels and we don't even know what is down at that level, especially if you look at quantum entanglement and a single quantum particle being in two places at once... now that's not a sphere... or is it?

Well yes I agree and in the end like many threads pan out it’s about what we are that is ‘I’ that anything can effect or relate to . Perhaps in this instance we could relate what we are that is of the mind body and how anything can effect and relate to aspects of one’s mind body.

Ok, fair enough, we'll stick with the human mind/physicality aspect of influence.

In regards to the thread and reiki symbols having their own energy source how do the symbols play apart within healing/empowering our mind body / energy fields, our state of mind, our state of wellbeing for example.

Erm... ok... the symbols have their own energy source in terms of the fact they are things and thus by the very nature, every "thing" has energy, yet we can also say that their energy is interconnected with all other energy... which is naturally Ki as that is what Ki is.

How does the symbols play a part in healing? I would say this is along the lines of what Andy (omega1) has been saying. The teachings of the Reiki symbols have been passed down, with their shape and sounds and the intended meaning. It is with this intention, that by using the symbols and their sounds, the intention, through our perception (from the teachings) as a practitioner of Reiki, is strengthened and the correct vibrations/frequencies of energy are imparted in the Ki energy we are moving. In reality, the symbols could have been drawn as anything (and people do create their own versions), but these can then lose their effective influence simply because there is not real teaching or understanding behind them and what their intented influence is supposed to be. There are people, in my experience, who use odd variations of the symbols or have introduced other symbols, but they have no real understanding of the symbol's origin or intention and, sorry to say, are sometimes just used willy nilly, such as one practitioner I met at a Reiki share who said they just cycled through all the symbols over and over during a treatment because they didn't really know which one was needed, and felt that just using them all would give the best treatement. This, to me, shows that they had not been taught, or sought to learn the symbols in depth, and had not learnt to scan the recipient, to pick up on what was needed by them, as we are taught to do in forms like Jikiden Reiki. (Western Reiki tends to be a major factor in this with it's set hand positions that many are taught you just treat for X minutes each, without any intention or intuition)

The 'power' of a symbol, comes from knowing a symbol (and it's sounds or other attributes).

I like to bring forth our d.n.a. coding into the mix and how our d.n.a. coding responds to geometric patterns .

I wouldn't, as I feel that going off on a 'geometric' (are we talking sacred geometry, is that where' you're heading?) tangent takes us away from the Reiki symbols being discussed, and dna coding is a whole subject in itself. Perhaps too many things being added to the mix when we haven't even clarified the basics. 😉

Yes I agree perception is a key factor .. In some respect one’s perception can acknowledge individual essence and also sameness . The bigger picture can entertain that all is one and all is sameness, so energetically speaking on some level the suns rays are the same source of energy as the quartz crystal or the oak tree etc, but on one level each energy signature holds a unique vibration / geometric pattern.

If everyone/thing vibrated the same there would only be the same one .

Lo' and behold, but we are all the same one. 😉 It is perception (our minds) that create the differences within duality, by discerning one thing over another. Though, yes you are correct, at the duality level of thinking, everything has it's own frequencies and energetic signature.

In some shape or form many can perceive light / colour / shape / sound to some extent I suppose from that perspective what does that light / colour / sound / shape do for you / anyone. If the frequency of sound differed and the colours vibration changed and the geometric patterns transformed / mutated etc, how will each of those combinations have an effect on you / anyone ..

Going back to use the tribal person as an example, if the colour vibration changed, then this could potentially have no effect on him at all, if that colour was not recognised by him as being any different, because that is the perception of his people. Then for us, it could have an effect, some may feel energized by it, whilst others feel disgusted, whilst others feel indifferent... all a matter of personal perception, yet whatever those individuals get as an effect, can then have a knock on effect to those (or the situation) around them... just as a Reiki practitioner will be influenced by the power of a symbol in order to effect the Ki energy they are presenting.

Is it down to what one wants to make of it or is it down to the unique energy patterns of everything that is in some way effecting you .. If it is the latter then something 'other' than the point of observation / observer is containing a unique source of energy .

This is where the description Paul has been using come in. It's down to personal choice. We can choose to let something effect us or choose not to, though many believe that that choice is not there and the influence is something external to themselves... especially if the energetic influence of something has what they perceive to be a 'negative' effect on them... in which case they want to blame something other than accept that they are the one responsible for choosing how they feel.

The suns rays can burn my skin, is that a good thing or a bad thing? It's a matter of perception. I can choose to make it a bad thing (and our media and science will constantly bombard us with messages telling us it's bad, though they are looking at it from a dualistic viewpoint), or I can choose to make it a good thing (if I were vain enough to want to boost my ego into thinking that going on those sun beds will make me a better person in society 😀 ) or I can recognise that the sun's energy has en effect on my skin cells, and choose to act or react as is appropriate to the situation I am in right now.

All Love and Reiki Hugs

It could be said that an individual is also fulfilling a role and can be equally unaware of their purpose and how their expression effect others .

The sun creates vast amounts of energy, you cannot reproduce that energy by drawing a symbol of the sun on a piece of paper, irrespective of how you choose to perceive it, it will just remain a symbol on a piece of paper.

I agree . In that respect the materials used be it the pen and the paper do not contain the fire nor the spirit of the sun . In that respect the drawn sun will contain the creative expression of the artist although I understand that geometric shapes expressed on any medium be it on canvas or be it in the form of a crop circle will hold an energy . In this instance you are comparing the physical nature of the fire to that of the drawing . There is no comparison made other than shape or perhaps colour to that of the drawing and to that of the actual sun .

A key cannot turn or unlock anything without someone to use it, a tool is nothing until someone chooses to utilise it, but even then its usefulness will depend upon the perceptions, skills and understanding of the person utilising it.

In the way you have put it Paul I agree, but there are many levels within mind and not everything needs manual interaction there are many mindful triggers that activate, awaken / unlock aspects of self that have laid dormant .
