Hi everyone
I'm taking my Reiki Master attunements in July and just wondered if anyone has any reccomendations on how to prepare? :nature-smiley-008:
Most Reiki Masters have a pac they send to you in order to prepare. I know the one from William Rand comes a few months before and gives you meditations, energy excercises, the master symbols, and a whole bunch of other things to prepare. Probably best if you contact the person who is going to do this for you in order to find out their preferences (as there are so many different types of Reiki and preferences!).
Did you have your other attunements done by the same master?
IMHO, there is nothing to prepare for. The Master course should teach you everything you need.
You don't necessarily go and learn to drive before you start driving lessons, so why the need to prepare for Master level?
The only 'preparation' is that you have done your Reiki I and II and are happy and comfortable with your Reiki way of life using the Reiki skills and knowledge you learnt during these levels.

there is nothing to prepare for
Which I think proves the point that you need to get hold of the person that is going to do your Reiki 3, you never know what their expectations or requirements are.
What Giles says brought to mind another Reiki Master where you prepare nothing but then her course is a 7 day residential one - Penelope Quest - you can read more about her in the recommended book section.
The one mentioned above where you need to prepare is a 2 day course and a lot of the preparation in getting to grips with initiations procedure, not drinking or eating meat for some time before your initiation and also working with your own energy (moving it around your body in a specific way etc.)
Please let us know what your master recommends. I find it interesting to see how many people do things so very differently while all are suppose to be pure and directly linked to original Usui.
My Reiki master students learn over a year and we meet regularly during that time. This is the way I lwas taught too and for me my initiation came after about 9 months when I felt ready, the student I trained alongside had hers at the beginning.
I do know what you mean about preparing though for the attunement/initiation I and others who I know have also been attunened all found we had a need to be really really clean - really long showers, bathing in streams etc. I also took the Bush Flower purification essence which felt right for me at the time. If you just tune into yourslef and folow your instincts you will know what it it you need to do.
In my experience, no matter how much preparation you do in advance, Reiki Masters will bring to the surface the next thing to heal that you are ready to deal with. It may not be immediate, but over the course of the year following your attunement there will be key moments for change.
I'd suggest having accessible tools that will help you with clearing on all four levels of the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual. Some of the examples above have suggested lifestyle choices to help with physical clearing (e.g. refraining from certain foods). On the mental and emotional level find ways to help clear upsets from your past in a gentle and fast way (e.g. meridian therapies like EFT are great for this). On the spiritual level I'd suggest working with any approaches that help you grow in compassion, peace and maintaining a high vibration. Of course, Reiki self treatments will help on all these levels.
Everyone's journey is different. It's important to find out what suits your needs. However, I'd suggest that the clearer the focus you have on your self-healing (regardless of the quantity of time spent) the more you will personally get out of the experience. Whilst I love teaching Reiki and sharing my knowledge with my students, taking Reiki to this level was and still is for me and my own growth.
I wish you joy and amazing growth in this next step!
Thanks for all your replys 🙂
I think maybe I am thinking too hard when really I should approach it as I did the rest of my journey so far....to go with what I feel to be right.
My feelings at the moment are that I should carry on with my self treatment, which I've always done, to look after myself and spend more time outside.
Crystal, your comment about emotional clearing is good advice. I'm generally ok, but there is one little niggle I have hanging around that needs dealing with. I know how to, I just haven't done it! So now would seem like a good time!! 😀
Thanks!
