Hi,
I'm taking my level 2 this weekend, very excited can't wait. The thing is apart from a few friends and family I dont' really get the chance to practice using it :(. Have had a look but they don't do ay reiki shares/meets in Nottingham. I don't feel that I should start having paying customers until I've used it more and had a chance to see what it can bring and the benefits. To be honest haven't really had or experienced anything with it, although my mum did see colours the last time I did it on her, which is promising :D.
Can anyone help, how did you all start getting practice? Any advice?
Thanks.
Yourself. Any animals around. After Reiki 2 you'll be able to do distance healing. Ask your Reiki master whether they would consider setting up Reiki shares as there seems to be a need for them.
HTH!
Hi LavenderRose,
I do practice on myself quite a bit, not experienced anything with it so far though. Have also started doing it to my plants and flowers. Though I did kill the tyme plant, it grew madly and then died a few days later so maybe not so great. Then again could be do with my watering or the fact they're hard to keep anyway, or at least thats my excuse to myself.
My reiki master is unable to hold shares unfortuantely. She does do mentoring at an additional cost but it's 1 on 1. I just feel that it would be beneficial to practice on other people and learn from their experiences too. It's a shame as there does seem to be a want for one in Nottingham. I certainly don't feel knowledgable enough to hold one myself.
Am hoping that i will get more use by being able to do it by distant healing but would still like more hands on practice.
Thanks,
Curious.
Why not get together with your fellow students and run your own shares? Perhaps someone will know a teacher who can help get you started or come along to a few meetings? Or maybe your own teacher would consider popping along?
If you want to practice some distance Reiki (personal fave of mine) I'm more than happy to be on the receiving end PM me if you want to set up a session.
have fun

After my reiki 2 attunement a group of us networked and decided to meet regularly to share. It was a valuable experience. I don't think you need a reiki master to hold the share. Benefits in sharing are developing your sensitivity, intuition and confidence.
Not all people see colours. Energy is perceived differently by all of us. Some may feel sensations, tingling, heat, or experience a heightened awareness of the body or emotions or spiritual realm.
I hope you are able to link up with some like minded people.

In more traditional approaches to Reiki, self-practice is the absolute and essential core of one's Reiki. It's the foundation from which your practice grows and develops.
For me, my personal Reiki practice consists of regular self treatment, plus breathing exercises and meditations (joshin kokyu ho and seichin toitsu mostly, plusd a few others). It's a "tuning-up" that I perform on a daily basis, and one that keeps me feeling grounded, balanced, healthy and relaxed.
For me, the work that I do for others is a natural extension of this core, integral self-practice. If I didn't practice on myself daily, then I don't think that I'd be the best help that I possibly could for my students and clients.
That being said, any practitioner can certainly learn a lot from working on others. If you're looking for other people to practice on, maybe your teacher could put you in touch with some other students who live in your area? You could also try to do some swaps with other complementary therapists, or therapists in training.
A really good middle-ground in between doing treatments for friends and family, and working professionally is volunteer work. Quite a few hospitals, hospices and charities have volunteer schemes in place for complementary therapists, and you might be surprised at how open minded people are becoming as Reiki grows more and more popular. So do get in touch with places, and enquire about the possibility of donating your time and services. You'll be getting the experience you need to develop as a confident practitioner, and helping people who really need it at the same time.
Hi,
Thanks so much for your replies. My training is done on a 121 basis so I don't get to meet any other of the students.
Really like the idea of getting experience through voluntary schemes so will have a look and see what I can find. Will also have a word about it tomorrow with my master.
I'm also in the process of doing a holistics course and my teacher said yesterday she'd be happy for me to use Reiki whilst massaging 🙂 which is great. Think she wants to see my aura when I'm using it, will be quite intersting.
Do any of you use reiki whilst massaging? Do you just let it flow throughout or use it at the end?
Thanks,
Curious

A word of caution: some insurers insist that you do Reiki separately from other therapies. Now us energy workers all know that that's just impossible! But there has been a case recently where a client sued a therapist because she told her after the massage that she also got Reiki, and the client didn't want to receive Reiki.
From a business point of view, it's good to have as an add-on for charging purposes (i.e. you can charge more for a massage with Reiki!). From a treatment point of view, it makes a good end to a massage.
Hi,
I had my level 2 attunement yesteday :D:D Was such a lovely experience and I def seem to feel more of the energy now :D. Not sure if it was the reiki or not but i had a headache soon afterwards and slept from 8.30pm. Feel so much more rested now though.
So excited to try all of the new stuff, I can't believe how much more level 2 lets you do. Already mastered writing the CKS symbol without looking so now on with trying to remember the other 2.
Scoobylw I will def offer some distance reiki soon, just need to practise a bit more and get home to a calm area.
Thanks for your replies and I will def have a look at that when choosing a policy Chris.
Thanks,
Curious
I'm really glad you had a great experience doing your Reiki II. I really enjoyed mine and like you was really inspired by how much more there was to learn and then use.
I seem to have an affinity for distance reiki and really love doing it, I'm looking forward to hearing from you. When you are ready of course.
Enjoy
