Hi Honeyuk

In order to overcome our fears, as others have said we have to be able to identify them and then be willing to let them go, just because we choose to see a therapist does not mean that we are ready to let go of something.

The energy we receive in an energy healing session will only help us to achieve our goals. It will not deal with our fear for us, it will assist us to deal with it if that is our intention, if after receiving our energy we say to ourself that tomorrow we are going to wake up with a dark cloud over our head, then guess what is going to happen in the morning.

Thoughts are intentions in energy work, we have to be very careful what we ask for and how we ask for it, we then have to take responsibility for those thoughts and the resulting actions which might manifest from them.

Do you know where you want to go with this?

Hi ChrisRams,

I'm not expecting a magic wand, but I guess I expect to just feel a 'little' different. Maybe more courage to face my fear, but I don't feel anything yet.

How do I let go of it? How can you walk away from something that has been with you and affected you for years, just like that?

(snips)

Obviously when you read success stories (such as from EFT) with regards to people overcoming fears and phobias, you do EXPECT some results, not magic ones but just something at least.

My fear means nothing to me other than like having a black cloud hovering over my head following me around. And its not fulfilling a purpose other than preventing me from having a fulfilled life.

Ok let me put this differently.

You may need to do this with a therapist, maybe a hypnotherapist or a counsellor.

What would your life be like without this fear?

You have described it as a "black cloud hovering over my head following me around". Ask the cloud what it wants. Is it following you because it wants something from you? Ask it what would make it go away. Your Reiki therapist may be able to use the symbols to detach it from you.

What are you getting from this fear that you don't get from anything else?

Finally, what is stopping you living as if the cloud is not there? What actions would you be able to take without the cloud? Can you visualise yourself doing these? What do you need in order to be able to do these things? How can you get what you need? Can you write yourself an action plan in order to get these things?

I'm not being nasty, I'm just asking the questions I would ask if you were a client in front of me. I would expect to spend well over an hour on the first set of questions, and perhaps weeks on the last set. It takes time, even if you are seeing a Reiki therapist or a psychotherapist.

Remember, too, that the testimonials you read are advertising. Of course the EFT therapist will choose the best testimonials for their publicity stuff. Not everyone will achieve results in the first session! Don't believe the hype.

The therapist who I saw for the EFT, I saw her for 3 sessions. The first session was made up of the consultation, muscle testing (where she told me my issue started when I was in the womb), a little reiki and then EFT.
The second session was made up mostly of muscle testing to find out what vitamins/supplements I needed and then a short EFT session.
Third session was only a short bit of EFT and she said at this one that she wasn't sure what else she could do as I had said I didn't feel any different.
She did give me contact details of people she said might be able to help but as the location of them was too far for me I didn't contact them.

I was a little disappointed as she was a lovely woman, very professional and seemed to know what she was doing. Although the second session I had with her didn't seem as 'productive' as the first. Also they were 3-4 weeks apart for each session and I felt that maybe they should have been more frequent but she said it takes around that time for your body to adjust from each treatment?! So I don't know!
🙂

Whilst this is the Reiki forum, I was intrigued about your mention of your EFT treatment.

EFT treatment of itself does not normally involve recommending nutritional products to take. Where a practitioner has training in other related fields they may combine their therapies to provide a blended form of therapy.

Based on your description, I'm a little surprised that so little time was spent in working on the issue using EFT.

In all my training and experience, I've not come across the need to spend 3-4 weeks between EFT treatments for it to take effect. With EFT benefits are normally experienced during the session or in the hours that follow as the body and mind start to rebalance. Perhaps it was 3-4 weeks for the supplements to take effect?

Most importantly, with EFT did you work on the emotional drivers to the fear? This is one of the most important parts of work with EFT. Another part of the treatment is to keep it as gentle as possible - you're not looking to relive the fear and be retraumatised, both of which can happen with some forms of talk therapy.

Coming back to Reiki, you've had many helpful comments above. I'm nearly completed with working with someone who had an irrational fear of possessing a bad body odour and they chose to resolve it with Reiki. Some of the factors that have helped them are:

- reflecting at the start of each session what is the precise intention they wish both of us to set for that treatment (this has varied around the theme of their fear from session to session);

- having a block series of treatments to speed up the process. After 7 treatments in 4 weeks they have reported a growing sense of improvement. Before the last session they felt they had achieved a 70% improvement and their focus is now in wanting to like the way that they smell. As you can expect, the number and frequency of treatments will vary from person to person.

One option to consider is attuning to Reiki yourself so that you can give yourself regular healings and so take charge of your healing further.

Hi HoneyUk

Just a query really have you tried Health Kinesiology? It works well on deep seated fears so if you have no joy with the Reiki I would suggest you try this therapy instead.

Hi Crystal Cub,
Thanks for your reply. I wish I had had more luck with the EFT as it sounds so good. There are no EFT therapists near me other than the woman I went to before. In your opinion, do over the phone EFT sessions just work as well?
I have the downloaded manual from the website and 'think' I am familiar with the points to tap, could I just do this myself? I am just concerned I wont do it as effectively.

Poohbear, thanks for your suggestion. Is that the same as using muscle testing? That's what the EFT therapist used to begin with when she told me my fear started when I was in the womb, and suggested I take supplements, but did not suggest anything else.

Hi Honey,

I find EFT by telephone works just as well as in person and I've gotten great results working in this way - I've worked with people over 4 different continents now. Even over long distances my intuition kicks in with suggestions of possible ways forward and often I can sense energy shifts in my client in my own body. Funnily enough, I credit much of this to my Reiki training and healing as Reiki is wonderful in growing this part of our selves. Knowing where to tap will help you if you choose to work with a practitioner in this way.

Here's an article from an American practitioner on how to get the most out of a telephone session and so make good use of the time and money you spend: [DLMURL] http://www.emofree.com/a/?2436/Articles2/maximize-client-results.htm [/DLMURL] .

Hi Crystal Cub,
Thanks for your reply.
Do you think it is as effective if I was to do it on my own?

Tricky question.

The answer is that it can be.

What you find is that even the most proficient therapists can have trouble treating themselves, because they aren't looking at their own issues from the outside, so often they will seek the assistance of another practitioner.

A person can treat themselves effectively if they can follow the requirements of the treatment and look objectively at the issue(s) rather than getting tied up in them, which can be tricky.

EFT can work effectively doing it by yourself. The challenge can be in finding the relevant aspects to clear. Working with another person for very distressing matters can allow the recipient to clear deep things more easily. A practitioner can also help with insightful detective work, skilful use of language to make changes more gentle, and intuitive leaps to cut down on the time taken to reach your goal.

If you feel comfortable giving it a go by yourself then try it. There are many inspiring articles to draw on from Gary Craig's website to help guide your way, so you needn't feel that you're alone in this. If you find that you're getting stumped at some point you can always have one or two sessions with a practitioner you like to help you over the block.
