Hi there. I'm a newly qualified Reflexologist and therefore lacking in a bit of confidence and experience.
My sister-in-law who is 18 has intracranial hypertension. Her Mum gives her foot rubs which seems to help her headaches. I've asked her to check with her specialist but would like to give her a treatment when she comes to stay.
Does anyone have any experience of this condition?
I wouldn't want to add to the pressure so would work away from the brain, and would work on kidneys and lymphatics to help drainage.
Apparently she has a sensitive spot on the top of her right foot in zone 4 - in line with the gall bladder / ascending colon and near the lymphatics.
Many thanks in advance.

I assume you mean she has raised Intracranial pressure? What is the cause?

From a reflexology point of view why not work the brain reflexes?? I would still work them but softly and do the other reflex points you mentioned. But I'm not going to say much as it all depends what the aetiology is.
One thing I will add that zone 4 in reflexology corresponds to the Gallbladder Meridian in Chinese Medicine and the symptoms of IH would indicate imbalance within that energy line. There's a point (GB41) on the dorsal of the foot (between the 4th & 5th metatarsals) inline with the planter side gallbladder reflex. Work this area anti-clockwise.
