Hi everyone
I have had several people telling me about Time Lime Therapy and I would like to brainstorm what do people think about it. Also, if you are trained, what are your impression of it from within the "practitioner's" experience? And if you have tried it as a client, what did it do for you?
RE: Time Line Therapy
I love using timelinetherapy(TM)
not the walking the timeline like a lot of therapists do but the actual time line therapy (TM) from Tad James
great for getting to the root cause of a problem
great for clearing the main sources of dis-ease
anger
sadness
fear
guilt
hurt
sometimes it can take as long as 5 mins to clear an emotion however that is not bad considering they have had it ages.
ie
if i am doing anger first ( being a stimulant ) and poweful emotion, i will get the client to recall 3 anger times from the past, i get a suds for that. we do the timeline clearing of the past using timeline , going to the root cause of the problem , the very first event which once disconnected will cause the problem to dissapear. the past is cleared with the co operation of the UCM. the root cause is the very first event ( usually childhood ) we do dissociated, then go before the event, then associated and check that it has gone,
we then bring the client back , only as quickly as they can let go of all anger on all events all the way back to now.
Then we check on the 3 anger times to make sure they are gone.
this lets the conscious mind know it is dealt with
then we future pace and check
then bringing all resources from future and past together to assimilate into now
thats briefly how we do it, however a person cant get timeline official training until they have completed a course of study in NLP
the above i recite from memory, so bear with me.
Timeline is the main reason why i did NLP.
great tool
works very well
I love using it
one great bonus also is that the 3 events above, we do not need to know what they are.
that saves a lot of time as well as allowing the client to do this without having to talk about it.

Timeline is the main reason why i did NLP.
May I add from my observation of other therapists for anyone considering having Timeline therapy:
There are many rogue teachers who teach "Timeline therapy" and "NLP" to would be so-called "NLP Practitioners". These "practitioners" set themselves up in business, usually innocently unaware that what they have been taught isn't the real deal. I can spot them because I had NLP training within my hypnosis training, but the average client can't. Then they go along and don't progress very far. And it's not even really the practitioners' fault if they think they were delivering the genuine article. What's incredible is that some such practitioners are members of respected associations and are insured. [sm=banghead.gif]
Maybe Dez or Steve can give some pointers about how to spot a properly-trained NLP practitioner?
RE: Time Line Therapy
Hi,
I had Time Line Therapy practitioner training and used to use it quite a bit - Dez has it well covered in his post. One thing worth mentioning is that the specific wording used is quite important - the Tad James original has got a lot of hypnotic presuppositions and suggestions in it; having them all there improves the success rate.
Later, I had further training in time based techniques from John Overdurf and Julie Silverthorne who took Tad's ideas and developed them in other interesting and creative directions.
Personally, I like using a more physical timeline, either getting clients to walk it, or to shift chairs and look at events from the perspective of the past or the future. It seems to offer me more choices and flexibilty, especially with clients who aren't very good with visualising. So I rarely use the "pure" form these days - I mix and match NLP, EFT and time things according to the client.
RE: Time Line Therapy
Dez used a little teensy bit of timelining on me and I found it to be really rather enlightening (understatement) - kind of helped me hit the nail on the head about a few things which have needed some attention.. ironically it brought out a belief I hadn't actually realised.. had he not known to try that I think I'd still not have known.
I was really impressed and others who have had experience of it have found it to be an incredible tool.
RE: Time Line Therapy
I have to admit, I am not lucky enough to have learnt Time Line from Tad James in person, but I am fortunate enough to have been taught by some of the very best NLP pioneers; Robert Dilts, Judith Delozier, David Gordon, Lara Ewing, Charles Faulkner, Christina Hall and Judith Lowe to name a few. The time line aspect of my early NLP training was completely mind blowing. So, Gussie, I know how you feel. You can help people to resolve issues, not just by walking the line (as Dez says) but by many ways including (my favourite) picking it up and moving it!
And, I was amazed at how differently the two main associations of NLP vary in their teaching methods.
I was at the NLP trainers training with Richard Bandler himself, a few months ago, and boy is his style of teaching way WAY different to anything I have ever experienced. Even though he was quite poorly at the time, his skill and art of delivery were like nothing I had gone through in 9 years of NLPing from elsewhere.
I am very glad I have had the opportunity to learn from both sides of the fence.
Time Line is great, and so are many other aspects of NLP. To me, NLP is all therapies, because it takes the best from all of them. Even TFT (EFT in its early form) is promoted by Bandler himself. If he says it is good enough to model and use, then 'World, take notice'.
Hippy-nosis is also a very huge part of NLP. So the list goes on and on and on and on and............

RE: Time Line Therapy
I have found it the most enlightening technique, both from having received it during my training and since using it. The speed and elegance in how it enables you to assist someone remove negative emotions and limiting decisions/beliefs is still quite stunning to me!
One thing I love about about it, is that it can be done content free, so by-passing the need to have the client re-live all of an event. So, working with the structure of the way the emotion/belief is held gives it a very powerful effect that you can literally see working at the moment you take them back out of the event to position No. 3, before the event or any of the chain of events that led to it - you actually see their physiology change and when you ask them 'now, where is the emotion?' ..... it's GONE !!
You can see the relief as it has been removed. Then by testing it afterwards, you enable the conscious mind to realise what the unconscious has just done which solidifies their realistion of the change process. Powerful stuff!
As mentioned above, the wording used in the script is very much how/why it works so well. Presuppositions are very powerful when used in such a way.
Cheers

RE: Time Line Therapy
I find Time Line Therapy tm the most easy, fast and effective technique to assist someone in letting go all negative emtions from the past and limiting decisions - I use it all the time with both myself and my clients!
RE: Time Line Therapy
This sounds very interesting, Iam looking for something new to get my teeth into.
I have asked for guidance in a post titled meridian therapies as to wich course to do next.
There is just so much going on and so much to choose from.
If anyone could assist . i would be most grateful.
Thanks jazzelle
RE: Time Line Therapy
Hi
Time Line Therapy(TM) is probably the main reason I ended up training in NLP & Hypnotherapy, having wanted to learn something of the related subjects. I bought Tad James' book 'Time Line Therapy and the Basis of Personality' to read as part of my decision making process, before deciding to train. He has a web-site [link= http://www.timelinetherapy.com ]www.timelinetherapy.com[/link] [or .net] which has a fair bit of info on it - and if you want any specific questions answered just 'yell'.
