I have a friend who just cannot praise Paul McKenna enough, and she loaned me one of his books and cd's after she has had so much success. I read all the reviews on the internet, and every single one praised it, saying it worked immediately, changing their whole lives. So I was really excited to try it.
I have listened to the cd where he guides you through a relaxation with suggestions daily for one week now. Afterwards, I feel so groggy, almost drugged, and it takes a long time to feel awake again. It is too good at relaxing me! Plus I am not noticing any behavioral changes at all.
Does this just not work for some people, do I need to do something differently? What is going on?
Thanks!
Edited to add that I have had no luck trying eft on myself either. Maybe my mind is not open to suggestion, a bit too stubborn??
RE: paul mckenna problems
P. McK - I've got both CD's and fall asleep to them a couple of afternoons every week, for about 6 weeks . In fact that's what I use them for - however, co-incidentally, I've found that I'm a bit more effective in business, and I'm going swimming fairly regularly - more than before -(but there have been other triggers too.).
EFT - try "Even though I don't believe this is working for me" and perhaps "Even though I don't deserve for this to work". Or perhaps try a practitioner. If you are not very in touch with your feelings you could use some help - but it really does work!

One of the key things is around 'allowing'
Tiredness could be about a part of you working really hard to resist postive changes

Thanks for the replies!
I did try the eft setups that you mentionned, and I do actually think that it worked! I am going to try again late in the day. I am really excited. I had tried a few times before, but never adressed the blocks that I had.
As for Paul McKenna, I will listen to this as I fall asleep at night, no longer during the day. It just totally knocks me out. I do think it is only fair to give it a try for a couple of weeks. It is possible that I am somewhere resisting the changes, that is a very interesting thought.
Will post back as an update.

Oh that's great to hear - I'm always keeping those set-ups in mind now in the early stages , as they do seem to press the right buttons with people, and then other things flow away more easily.
Well done!
(How about tapping on your responses to the PMcK cds? It would be interesting to see if that changed!)

That's a good idea Sharon! Even though Paul Mckenna CDs always make me feel groggy for ages afterwards.......

RE: paul mckenna problems
Wow!
I have to say thank you so much to all of you. First, I really think that tapping for the blocks has finally made eft click for me. And to top it all off, today I tapped, Even though I feel so incredibly groggy after the Paul McKenna cd.... Just once is all, thinking I would do another round again after the cd. I laid down and listened to it. When I got up, I felt bright and energetic, and had to run to my computer to post a big thank you.
I must say I am impressed, and surprised at this all. Especially since I just did one short round. What a treat!
Now to see if the suggestions start taking hold...

Well done!! Tapping is such a great way of releasing blocked energy isn't it.
Really pleased for you.

Woohoo!
RE: paul mckenna problems
I feel listening to the cd is very relaxing, and you do feel energetic, but the book its self illustrates exercises to do, this is where i feel that my imagination is blocked, and cannot think of the exercises that he gives you, i would so much like to feel the benefits that everyone is experiencing.
Any ideas, i have just started doing meditation to help open the third eye, but perserverence(if this is how you spell it) is not my strong area.
RE: paul mckenna problems
I learned from my kinesiologist, that we are all different-I am more auditory than visual. So I have to read and hear things to understand, it is impossible to visualize much, so I have to adapt the exercises to suit this. It helps to think about what you respond best to, and try to focus on that, if possible. I was driving myself nuts trying to visualize for a long time.
Do not know if this helps. Sure some others will jump in with great tips.
Maybe tap even though imagination is blocked... etc. This is what finally made it all work for me, was to knock down the blocks.
RE: paul mckenna problems
The first couple of times I listened to the CD I fell asleep and stayed asleep for at least an hour after the CD had ended. I mentioned it to a friend of mine who does a lot of meditating and he said he suspected I had a lot of 'sleep debt' to pay back. So I have worked on getting an extra hours sleep in each night to pay back my sleep debt and now I find that I remember the first few minutes of the CD but then don't remember anything, however I do now wake up at the end of the CD and am energised and ready to get going.
I am combining it with tapping on trying to slow my eating down as that is the main area I have problems with. I still have some work to do there :). I can slow down consciously, but the minute I'm bothered about something it goes out the window.
I really like the idea of tapping to unblock any resistance to the CD itself. I shall try that.
My husband listened to the CD for the first time last night (we call it Subliminaly Slim after the programme Homer uses in the Simpsons) and he emailed me this morning to say he's not had any snacks which is unlike him!
yeah for Mr McKenna
