Hi,

I am thinking of doing some self healing and am drawn to doing some work with my inner child

Does anyone have any ideas where would be a good place to start?

Thanks in advance

Liz

Hi 🙂

When I did inner child work, I found the best exercise to be writing to your child.

So, if you are right handed, you use this hand to write to your child, and then swap hands for the child to write back.

It takes a little while to get into it, but start it and see how it goes. Start off by writing something like:

"Hello I know I haven't really communicated with you like this before, but I was wondering how you were doing?"

Then put your pen in the non-dominant hand and wait to see what you write. Just let the dialogue flow, and try and stick with it, as after a while it becomes like a real conversation and flows much more freely. If you start by short conversations, everyday, then you can gradually lengthen the dialogue...

After a few days, look over it, then you can start to get to know each other....

It is really inciteful and amazing!!

Good luck!

Dip xx

and just remember that the inner child encompasses feelings, that occured throughout all the childhood, not just as a small one, but right up to rebellious teens too .... 🙂

I did a bit of DIY "Inner Child" work as part of my journey, using John Bradshaw's book, "Homecoming."

Its no substitute for psychological therapy of any description with a real human though, although it's a lot cheaper!

Btw, someone once said to me that Inner Child therapy is Past Life therapy, and that rang really true for me.

There is a great book 'Recovery of Your Inner Child' by Lucia Capacchione. It has great exercises in it. It is simple and easy to understand. I loved working with it.

Using this method to connect and work with my inner child I subsequently discovered that I was able to connect and work with the inner child of my clients.

With love and blessings
