I am just in the process of setting up my own little treatment room which will be used for Reflexology and Reiki mainly. Could anyone suggest how I could 'cleanse' the room ready for use. My first Reiki master taught me how to use burning sage as a kind of cleanse, I think it's something the Indians used to do. You waft the smoke with a big feather into the areas you want cleansed. I just wondered if anyone else had any other little cleansing ceremonies that they might like to share with me.

I'd also like to hear of anything Feng Shui related that might help too. By the way the room is actually in my garden with the door and one window facing West and the other window facing South if thats of any help!

Any suggestions greatly appreciated, thanks 🙂

RE: Cleansing therapy room?

hiya...

check out this webpage - but also keep clicking the feng shui topics there are more than just on this page.

I am trying to Feng Shui my home but it seems that if I get one thing right I then get stuck with another thing - I think feng shui works but it is mostly all symbolic rather like how Jung spoke about symbolism, it is a bit like magic getting the outside to reflect the inside such as through synchronicity.

Any tips on how I should position my desk - I know it mentions this in the page I have given, but would like your views.

My desk is facing south-west, my pc is facing south, my keyboard is facing more south west...mt left arm would point to my left side and be outside above the front door seeing I am in a small room above the main front door...my right arm would go directly North/West and if pointed to the right of me would go to the bathroom/toilet.

Have I my desk position for positive...or shall I turn it to face North west? facing the room door?

Another tip for cleansing that works is to get an onion, cut it into 4 quarters, then place each 1/4 in each direction of the room, and say something such as "as I leave these here soak up all negativity and cleanse this room - you can word the saying as you like, maybe even ask archangles. Then leave the room until the onions dry up...as the onions shrink so does the evil negativity.

Regards

RE: Cleansing therapy room?

Have you come across Tibetan singing bowls? I was on a course the other day and during breaks a singing bowl was used to cleanse and balance the room and its energies. It's a very pleasant experience to use one and I'm now looking for one that doesn't cost the earth. If you come across some in a shop it's a good idea to make sure you test them out to see if you like the sound they make. You tap the inside of the bowl with a wooden stick then move it slowly and smoothly around the outside of the bowl's rim. It resonates beautifully but I think it would be good to get one whose sound you enjoy and which resonates with you - no pun intended!

Hi ... I have a lovely Tibetan singing bowl that I bought on line from It cost me about £55.00 and they give a pretty accurate description of the sounds, it came with both a soft mallet and a puja stick, a base rest (and a free box of incense that was a pleasant surprise). I am delighted with mine and I use it to space clear my treatment room and home.

Yes I have seen a Tibetan singing bowl. My Reiki master had one and they do make a lovely sound, although she never really showed us how to use it. How would you use it to cleanse a room? Do you just walk around with and tap it. Do you know what the different sounds mean?

Dear Billy,

I can't advise you on space clearing. Feng Shui has little to do with space clearing. They are two separate subjects. However, an authentic Classical Chinese Feng Shui Practitioner can re-energising a space for you. We were talking about this in Health Forum last week. Have a quick search for the last month (keyword: Feng Shui) It hopefully will give you some insights. Feng Shui is more about bringing out your maximum potentials of yourself (health, wealth, relationship etc). Hope it helps.

Dear Startled Deer,
I feel rather sad to read your message. First of all, Feng Shui is not about symbolism at all!!! I have been trying my very best in the last few months in the forums here to explain to people what authentic Classical Chinese Feng Shui is. Please do a quick search on all forums over 6 month period (keyword: Feng Shui) or visit my website below. It is very sad that the name of Feng Shui has been so badly polluted in the last 20 years by Black Sect Feng Shui or by greedy "Feng Shui" Merchants. At one stage, I have seen feng shui lamp, feng shui tissue box and feng shui paint!!! They have nothing to do with Feng Shui. Only the greedy people related them to Feng Shui so that they can attract you to buy their stuff and even charge you more than usual!!! Feng Shui is a study of earth magnetic energy impacted on human. How does the tissue box can do that is completely beyond me! (Also, read my website regarding three-legged toad - you will smile!).
Also, I don't know what you are based on regarding positioning all these desk, keyword, PC etc. If it is based on Black Sect, I am afraid that you are wasting your time. Is it based on your Gua number? I cannot understand why you even mention about your arm movement direction. It is completely irrelevant. No one cannot "Feng Shui" a desk as such. Those ideas / information are really bad and harmful to people.
Please read through a few messages on this forum and my website. Hopefully, it will give you a better view on what Feng Shui is about. If you have any question afterwards, I am happy to help if I can.

RE: Cleansing therapy room?

Thank you very much Chi Wing for your comments. I do realise that cleansing and Feng Shui are a completely different thing, I was just trying to get any kind of ideas from anyone. Would I be right in understand that Feng Shui deals with how to direct and move the qi rather than just placing object or furniture in specific places. I don't really know much at all about it but I find it a fascinating subject. Do you think it is possible to 'feel' where there needs to be a change made with Feng Shui? I sometimes maybe go to a place in someones house and just feel a different 'vibe' there. I always joke and say 'you need to get your qi sorted out here'! I certainly believe that placing certain objects in the wrong place in your home can cause a change. When I bought my computer and it was in my dining room it caused a lot of bad 'vibes' which disappeared when I moved the computer to a different place.

I have just been on your web site and had a quick look and will read more of it when I get the chance.

And don't worry about getting my name mixed up, it made me laugh!!

Take care

RE: Cleansing therapy room?

I thought you may be interested to read an article which I wrote as homework for the crystal therapy course that I did a couple of years ago. It uses some interesting pointers that will hopefully give you some ideas of what you can do. In my opnion, space clearing ought to be taught as part of the curriculum on all courses of this nature, sadly thought it seems that most teachers are still unaware of the importance of it. Hope this helps anyway.

June

------------------------------------

Describe a selection of 4 space clearing/preparing techniques which you have used/researched. Comment on their effectiveness in your opinion

1. Sound clearing can be used to help disperse any negative energy in your space, and can be done with either the voice, by clapping or using musical instruments. It is usually a good idea to have a sound clearing after moving into a new home or business premises or after any major life changes occur (such as a divorce), as otherwise the old, negative energies can reflect back on to you. Any negative events will create dense, heavy energy which you will be able to feel in the atmosphere, and this needs to be lightened in order to bring back harmony and balance. There are many different ways of doing this, from having a good party, to clapping rituals and chanting.

When clapping, it is important to remember to clap into all four corners of the room, as the areas where dust gathers also tend to be the areas where negativity gathers. You can also get an idea of the type of energy in the room by listening to the sound of the clapping. For example, if it sounds sharp then the space is clear, if it sounds dull then the energy is dense. Musical instruments such as Tibetan Bowls, Bells or a Rain Stick can also be use as well as sacred chants and of course music. The music you choose will depend on which room in the house is being cleared. For example, Gregorian chants seem to work well in the bathroom as the bathroom is an area for relaxation and contemplation, whereas romantic classical music may work better in the bedroom, or lively, upbeat music in the living room.

2. The Pendulum Prayer.

‘All beings, energies, entities and connections not of the light and not following the Divine plan be removed from this place/person/situation and may they be sent to the light or a place of peace for the highest good of all the harm of none. So be it and so it is.’

Begin by asking the pendulum to show you if there is any negativity in the room. If it starts to swing in a positive direction, ask your Guides/Angels/
Helpers to work with you through the pendulum in order to clear the space. Once the pendulum starts to swing again, confirming their presence you can begin to say the prayer. This need now be aloud you can simply say it in your head. As the energy starts to clear, the pendulum will start to slow and once it comes to a complete stop the process has been completed. If you wish you can check by dowsing to see if the energy has all been cleared.

This system seemed to work well and was relatively simple to use when we practised it as the last course meeting. If you don’t have a pendulum it is easy enough to make one yourself or they can bought relatively cheaply in crystal and new age shops. It is a system which almost anyone could use and if you feel embarrassed about speaking the prayer out loud it can be said in your mind.

3. Reiki Symbols.

Again, this system seems to work quite well, but of course you will need to have Reiki II or above in order to have access to the symbols. It is fairly simple to use, simply draw the Power Symbol in the air in each corner of the room, intone the name, either aloud or in your mind and ask that your Reiki Guides/Helpers cleanse any negativity from the room. This is a system which I use often, particularly after my sister (who suffers from schizophrenia) has visited and you do notice the difference in the energy very quickly. The main advantage (apart from its effectiveness) is that it is very quick t

RE: Cleansing therapy room?

Hello Susan. Some people are psychic, which is fine. In fact, a feng shui colleague of mine is a psychic as well. I am not a psychic myself (although I wouldn't mind to become one if someone can give me or teach me this gift). However, my thought is: What is good and what is bad. For example, romance energy. If someone wants a relationship, romance is good. If you are married, an affair by the romance energy is probably bad. But it is the same energy, the result could be different to different people. To answer your question, for those who are not energy sensitive, we don't need to "feel" it, the events happened in the house should be in line with the feng shui of the house. In other words, you can see it (by observation) and hear it (from your clients) etc. In fact, we have just stepped into Period 8 two days ago for the next twenty years. You might see some very sudden change to people's wealth and health soon. What you "feel" might be a message from your guidance angels or medium etc. Now, I am not an expert on angels or mediumship, might be someone can tell you more on this. Obviously, you need to feel right with your environment to create good qi. Beauty is also good qi. However, it is unreasonable to say, if you feel right, then you have good feng shui. All these so called intuitive feng shui is completely non-sense. Some people might have the tale, but giving others the idea of feng shui can be done by intuition is bad. There are solid principles/methodologies in Feng Shui. Why use intuition when there are formal rules? There is no such thing as intuitive feng shui. People who are sensitive to energy might be able to give you advices based on their intuitions, but those are not feng shui advice for sure. Just my thought. Does it help?

Firstly many thanks to Chiwing for your comments and insight into Feng Shui they are greatly appreciated and fascinating.

Thank you very much to Talisman for sharing your homework with me, this is exactly the sort of thing I was looking for. If you don't mind I will print it out and when my room is ready I will try them all to see which one works best.

Thanks again and Reiki blessings
Susan

Their website is (although it has not been updated to reflect this when I last visited).
