When reading or eating, I like to have something under my feet, to rub them or feel the edge. You can get foot massagers for that sort of thing, see the first photograph.
But they never felt good enough, so I made some myself. The different bits are not for subtlety, but because I was trying it out. I kept finding it needed to be a bit longer, so I added another little piece of wood. The blocks are about 4 cm high (yes, I'm foreign). It's not pretty, but it does the trick. I rub my feet or just rest them on there, and it feels wonderful. It helps me relax while just sitting there.
I've made another one which is a bit wider, sometimes I prefer one, at other times the second one. Mind you, it took a while to get it just right.
Sometimes I throw an old blanket over them, so it feels softer on my feet.
Simple and effective. Shoes off, of course!
That sounds more like DIY reflexology - to some extent.
Acupressure is applying fingertip pressure to acupuncture points over the body. I can vouch for it's effectiveness re. many ailments.

I have done acupressure as well, on my children when they were small. With success. But I don't like doing it on myself, because I can't relax into it so well. I thought that pressing on certain places on the foot, albeit with a piece of wood, would have the same effect as acupressure.
Its a good follow up to create something like this on your own. Even i will be the one to have better results for my health through this therapy.
Thank you.
