Just popping my query here, as I've been having a rummage on the net but as of yet can't find the answer to me question.:o

Last night, I noticed a waxing crescent moon, but with a seeming difference. Rather than being at an angle vertically, it was horizontal and an intense yellow. I was wondering if there was a special name for this type of moon phase, and whether it has an added meaning.:)

I don't have an answer for you, but I've noticed something about the moon these past few nights too. It seems very bright and yellowish like you said. It's been framed in our living room window, right above my little gathering of mistletoe and holly. Perhaps it has something to do with the solstice? Either way it's been beautiful!

Thank you for your reply Tapestry :), such was the vividness and the way the moon lay in the sky that night, I can still see it now in my mind.:D I think you could well be right re the winter solstice having something to do with it-wish it would happen more as it was absolutely mesmerising.:)

Have a look at the Blue moon thread. Maybe this moon was leading up to this?

It's funny, the first thing I said when we stepped out the door last night was "look at the moon!" I didn't know it was a blue moon, but it was special. 🙂
