This is the time of year when things start to change, the turning of the seasons and the drawing in of the nights.
It's the drawing of closure and cleansing.
In a way it's the pagan form of lent. We've brought the harvest in, our storehouses are full and we give thanks for; all blessings, all gifts received and all that we are.
Now is the time to reflect before the arrival of the Solstice. All things collected in this past year that we don't need should be given up to spirits and Fathers.
Cast off hurt and hate, cast off worries and anxieties, cast off attachments and wants.
It's not a sad time, but a time of rejoicing for blessings. As the men of old would say, it's the time of stories and dreams, the time of reflection and hope, the time of love and trust.
Each year our treasure chest of stories is replenished with the turning of the seasons, we rehearse what's gone before, because the time of feasting will soon be upon us.

This is deffinatly my favourite time of year!
The changing of the leaves, the drawing in of the nights and looking forward to Samhain my favourite celebration 🙂 ,time for reflecting and planning for the future and of course honoring family and friends who have past.
Thanks for starting this thread Myarka. It has given me lots to think on. I shall now begin a de-cluttering so that I don't store too much. It's a shame the leaves will start dying off soon but the Autumn colours are amazing. Perhaps we can capture some of those images and post them back here.
In love & light

I have gently been gathering a few of the spent petals from the garden flowers over the past couple of weeks, drying them out on a sideboard in the house, and popping in a pretty jar.
So far I have bright indigo hydrangea..pink roses..yellow and red begonia..hopefully a pretty reminder in the winter months of the summer past. 🙂
What a lovely thread it has certainly made me think - off to clear the clutter!
The pagan Anglo Saxon 9th month is known as Holy Month. In context, it means to separate and be otherworldly, not physically but spiritually.
To be separate is not to be caught up all things domestic, what value do they really have? They are a gift, and at this time of year after the harvest we can see how plentyful the gift has been. If we honour the Earth it will honour us with all we need to sustain life. Therefore to be thankful for these gifts we can separate ourselves from the things that hold us back, i.e. the decluttering of our lives.
The call to the Anglo Saxon is to be otherworldly during this holy month. If we separate ourselves from all that holds us back, if we allow old wounds to fester, or to let unfinished business hold us back, then we can't see the spiritual and it is hidden.
Can you remember the time when the trees spoke to you? Do you know the guidence of the robin and the hare? Are the rocks and the mountains your sign post? The sun supplies all life and at yule we receive her promise and through the harvest we receive her blessing.
So now the year is almost full circle; She promised and gave, now we give our thanks through remembering this holy month.
