I would just like to wish everyone a very happy Imbolc....

Here's a poem that celebrates this festival

Imbolc

By Alex Mylles

Nature rises: awakening,
Gently, slowly: stirring.
Winter's deepest dark,
Receding as we embark,
Once more on life's wheel.
For new ideas we feel,
For new paths we rove,
To find a pleasant grove.
To watch the sleeping earth,
Now astir from earlier dearth.
Once more to grow and flourish,
And for our hopes to nourish.
And the resurgent Goddess's calling,
For to give us blessing.

That is so lovely. Thanks Oakapple.:)
Imbolc is the time of newborn lambs and the first lactation of the ewes. The Gaelic meaning of the word Imbolc = first milk.
This year, as often, the SNOW is Brigid's white mantle for Imbolc! Her colour, like the snow & the snowdrops.

Here's what I posted on the snow thread about her:
Saint Bridget, Bridge or Bride was an ancient Celtic goddess 'made over' into Christian Saint. She was guardian of holy wells, of waters of life, of hearths and sacred fires too.
The 19 virgins tending her sacred fire in ancient myths (just like the Roman Vestal Virgins!) became the 19 nuns guarding the holy fire that never goes out in the convent at Newbridge in Ireland.

I've celebrated her symbolism & gentle, maternal energy in her different guises with both Christians one Candlemass, & with Nature-loving Pagans.
Both groups had white candles, white robes, white flowers & white 'new milk'.
Reminding us of purity and refreshment & fresh new starts.

Brightest blessings of stillness, of whiteness, of sparkle & peace. Love, Starshower. /l xxx

Well Fleur.....this is the time of inspiration and new beginnings. Walk safely and know that the love of the Goddess resides within.
