"Enlightenment is like ten pin bowling. Knocking down the skittles one at a time. You could knock them down all at once, but what fun would there be in that?"
Dr Usui sharing his wisdom
and from a man that is very much alive today
Dalai Lama says
"True enlightenment is nothing more than the realization of our own self nature...." and EMBRACING it so we get out of our own way....
RE: Enlightenment
"There is only one indication and that is love. But to understand love you have to be a little silent, a little loving, a little open. If you are full of prejudices about how the enlightened man should be, then you will go on missing. You should not have any prejudices. Just look into the eyes of a real man, and suddenly something will start stirring in your heart too. Tears will come to your eyes, your energy will have a great delight, your heart will throb with new vigour. Your soul will spread its wings.'

RE: Enlightenment
Enlightenment is the ultimate state that each individual works towards.
As each soul is reincarnated and learns the lessons of the eight fold path, they are brought closer to this state of perfection. When an individual attains this state, they give up the egotism of personal identity and merge with the entire universe. This is a final state for most, except the Bodhisattva who chooses to continue incarnating in order to teach others.
If you are full of prejudices
You don't have to suppress your thoughts or feelings - just recognise them. It's the actions that you take based on those thoughts or feelings that affect your individual progress.

RE: Enlightenment
It feels to me that developing spiritually, is like putting littke pieces of jigsaw into the right place and suddenly seeing part of the picture that was there the whole time but you'd just never noticed it before.
it's kind of a "hey, I think I knew that" feeling
RE: Enlightenment
more on enlightenment
"If one can achieve peace of mind
then enlightenment springs from the well of peace."
"Enlightenment cannot be achieved
through desire or aspiration.
For one has to surrender one's own desires to
achieve it. To have no desire is true liberation"
Dear Bodhi
So very true!
