One of Gautam Buddha's most significant contributions to the spiritual life of humankind was to insist to his disciples, 'Be a light unto yourself'. Ultimately, each of us must develop within ourselves the capacity to make our way through the darkness without any companions, maps and guides.

Not wanting to sound ignorant or reading this simplicistically ( hope its spelt that way) 🙂 but would you explain this a bit more - been trying to do this for years[sm=banghead.gif] have reached a point in my life where i feel i need guidance/help
RE: Be a light unto yourself
That is exactly the time you will make your breakthroughs stick with it being the light unto yourself.
Search the soul and you will get there ask only your GOD for help.
In the ‘nothingness one can see everything’ Kuthumi
In the times when you feel most lost, a brand new picture can emerge on the empty canvas that stands before you.
Try replacing the word ignorant with the word innocence it is so empowering.

There was a time when I was struggling and I felt that I could never get to the top of the mountain. I kept saying 'I have lost my balls" I asked GOD for help and he/she sent a divine messenger who said 'you do not have to struggle up the mountain you can just walk around it.
I could not understand its meaning.
I continued to ask GOD for help.
So next GOD sent an earthly messenger and she said 'change your perspective, fly up and look down upon the mountain' I still could not understand the meaning.
So I continued to pray for help.
Then God sent an angel and the angel said Kim, do you think that angels are more powerful then humans? I smiled and replied yes I believe that they are. He then said when you surrendered control and aligned your will with GODs will, we gave you your wings and now you will just have to get used to flying with them.
Finally I understood
I had created my own obstacles
I had created my own mountain
Now I could fly !
My own perceptions of the obstacles disappeared and so did the obstacles
and the mountain did not exist for it was only a limitation that I had created with my own mind.
blessings in abundance

RE: Be a light unto yourself
Whenever I'm asked by people how to get through a difficult time, I tell them that they have to just let it go. Usually get a puzzled look and "How?" But I can't tell them how, because no words can explain it. For me, it's when I finally give up and accept that I cannot do 'it' by myself. Then... everything changes.
One day, I asked for help on my way forward. I saw a huge brick wall across my path. I could see no way around, over or under it. Jesus stood before it, smiling. Then a thought occured - why didn't I just walk through it? So I did. Problem gone.
love & Light,
